The Finals thread: (week 1)

I’ll give you a few stats to mull over in regards to the Sexton decision(in no way am I having a go at your opinion on the Dogs)
Up to rd12,the last round before Galvin’s arrival, Dogs had won 9,lost 2 and had a bye. Of those 11 matches ,they had only played 4 of the eventual top 8(Sharks,Roosters,Broncos,Canberra).Of them,3 wins(Sharks,Roosters who had no Walker and not the team they are now and Canberra when they were down by 20-0 at halftime). The loss was a flogging to the Broncos. The other 7 matches were against Titans twice,Souths,Dragons,Eels(no Moses and not in the form they finished the season in)Newcastle and Dolphins who smashed them by 36.So I’d suggest the Dogs form wasn’t as good as the record suggested prior to Galvin’s arrival.
As a long term decision,it was a smart one,if you think Galvin is going to be a very good player in years to come,Gould obviously thinks so.Ideally, they’d of picked him up at season’s end,but once the Tigers said he was free to go,they jumped at the chance to nab him before someone else did.
Interesting thanks for that yes agree long term it will be a wise and the right decision re Galvin just think this season it's screwed them over badly in terms of team harmony.

Dogs will win a premiership with Galvin I can see that in a few years time no question about that.

I know what you're saying, but with all my being.... I hope you're wrong.
And you don’t finish third and sacrifice a proper crack at a premiership by not playing your best team. And anyone who’s watched footy knows Galvin is not the best 7 option in that team. I suspect he will be dropped for next week.

I’m honestly still to see it with Galvin and I’ve watched a lot of him. Time will tell. Think he’s been one of the most overhyped players in a long time.

Not as forward as the pass to minichello back in 2013

Panthers imo will win the comp but I hope the raiders win it
Of the last 5 GFs Penrith have played they've only had to play week 2 on one occasion (2021 - where they ended up winning the GF). I think it’s a bridge too far. I think they’ll beat the Dogs tho.

As I said now confirmed dogs vs panthers accor stadium if this game can't get 75,000 + then there is something wrong

Only big all Sydney final tonight's 12,000 at shark Park doesn't count small crowd

I reckon the club round game that Penrith threw by resting 11 players was calculated. They didn’t want to play the Raiders. Predicted that they’d play weaker teams. Got rid of the warriors and the dogs are busted now.
I really don’t want them to win. 5 years in a row is a massive problem in the competition. No matter how much the commentary waxes lyrical over the panthers, ‘everyone can appreciate the brilliance- blah blah’. Sick bag now please.
Hope Sharks win game 2 cos Chez is going to chookies.
Go Manly!
