The Jazz thread ... all that Jazz

Paseka , Alioia and T K O would hardly be rated in the slow department or lacking leg speed , even Sipley has seemed to have improved his leg drive in recent seasons .
Agility slightly different matter but still need the bigger bodies with mobility to generally provide the crucial go forward .
Bully is more the exception to pretty much have a good combination of both
Jake will never be noted for his go forward abilities but compensates very well of course in other areas .
Certainly a delicate balance in recent times with the forward make up and playing traits and Jass is sort of in between with the range of modern prototype playing roles , mobility - agility wise .
Jake will always be known as a "nice" guy (and what's wrong with that) but it would insult Jazz to call him that. Still a team is made up of diverse personalities and the secret is how they gel.

Surprising to see he is off to the super league next year. We wanted to keep him & apparently there was other NRL clubs also interested. Does this mean we are signing another forward or Da Silva? 🤔
Da Silva would be good. We really need to start going for some gun forwards though. Thats another forward lost and we’re already struggling big time

Hopefully with the DCE -> Fogarty change and the moving on of Aloiai and maybe even Croker, we will have some cash available to pick up a few decent forwards.
Absolutely. All about making the right decisions now in who we go after. Exciting to see there’s a chance for some change, just need to get it right so we don’t end up in the same place a few years down the line again.

Agreed, Jazz is a rare forward I actually would’ve liked to see stick around too.
Jazz has done pretty well for us, however reality is he isn’t young anymore. I respect he’s been one of our better players this year tbh but I’m not entirely upset with him leaving if it helps us go after someone better. This is an important period for us in terms of who we try and sign for the future.

Let’s not forget as well Turbo and Jurbo will be on big pay cuts by their next contract, so that frees even more space. We can only hope and pray that Walsh turns out to be an absolute gun, because if we can set up the future right with some big signings in the forwards as well as lock up backs like Tolu and Lehi, I think we could end up in a strong spot a few years down the line. But how much trust can I put into these guys to get this right lol

I would have liked to keep him as a lock or 14. Not so much as a hooker. The games he's played at lock this year have been when we've looked at our best (admittedly it's a small sample)

Its also been reported that both jake and tom are on back ended deals next season chewing up more cap though

He has been one of our better performers this season but we need a complete overhaul of the pack. Tevaga will do a job but he is not elevating us to premiership contention. I also think Brown’s re-signing after one solid year is anecdotal evidence of the gamble one takes with forwards on the wrong side of 30. Sure, Jazz might have been a handy squad player for next year, but we are in big trouble if we can’t offset the loss of a player of his calibre.

The worry is that Manly said they wanted to keep him, rightly so, I think, because apart from Haumole, he's been our best forward this year. Are we going to magically have a great forward pack next year? Where will they come from?

If young Da Silva doesn't choose us, it all has a bit of a sinking ship feel.
