The joint is about to implode

Hardly sounds like an implosion. More like a dot point beat up by someone who has posted 68 times in approx. 7.5 years. In other words, Red😉alert: Troll alert. I see Danny ‘The Bris’ Weidler is all over it.

Anyway, spotted this in Sub-tropical Parramatta’s Curious-Mail newspaper, author: Shatthew Mullivan:

Tom Trbojevic in bombshell Super League rumour, Manly in turmoil

Manly superstar Tom Trbojevic has stunned the rugby league world by considering an unthinkable move to leave the Sea Eagles.

September 11, 2025 - 12:33PM

In news no Manly fan will want to hear, English clubs have reportedly been informed Tom Trbojevic is open to a move to the Super League.

Trbojevic, 28, is contracted with the Sea Eagles until the end of next season but is free to negotiate with other clubs from November 1.

According to Code Sports, Trbojevic has instructed his agent to put feelers out in the Super League as he considers a shock move that would see him continue his rugby league career on the other side of the world.

He has also ruled himself out of selection for the upcoming rugby league Ashes series, pulling out of the tour to focus on allowing his knee injury time to recover.

Trbojevic does not require surgery but has let Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters know he needs to rest his knee to get a full pre-season under his belt after being significantly hampered in recent seasons.

Trbojevic, the 2021 Dally M Medallist, has battled injury and form issues all season but showed glimpses of his line-breaking skills in the final rounds of the season.

The gun fullback is currently one of the NRL’s highest paid players on more than $1 million per season, and he would likely take a large pay cut in his next deal if he was to remain at Manly.

Trbojevic has scored 111 tries in 170 NRL games for Manly.

He told AAP in August he was aware his value on the market had dropped due to injury and form.

“I don’t want to let people down. It’s what I value, and I know I’m paid very well and haven’t played enough footy to justify what I’ve been paid,” Trbojevic said.

“I’ll sit down at the end of the year and work all that out. I’m not really too focused on it right now.

“I understand I’m not going to be paid the same amount that I’m worth now.”

Trbojevic has stated he does not want to play for another NRL club against Manly, but a potential move to the Super League would be a horror blow for the Sea Eagles, who are facing offseason turmoil on several fronts.

His brother Jake is set to re-sign with Manly on a one-year deal worth around $500,000, a reduction on his current deal worth around $900,000 a season.

The Sea Eagles will be desperate to bolster their middle forward stocks to be a finals contender in 2026, when Jamal Fogarty will replace the outgoing Daly Cherry-Evans at halfback.

There will likely be a major rejig of Manly’s salary cap as a result of Cherry-Evans’ departure and new discounted deals for Tom and Jake Trbojevic, if Tom Stays.

Coach Anthony Seibold is contracted for two more seasons, but there is scrutiny on his position after Manly finished 10th and missed finals.

Nine News reports Trbojevic is “not happy” at Manly, while rumours of a player revolt against Seibold have plagued the club this year.
The coach is on the hot seat and will be desperate to keep his job after he was axed by the Broncos in 2020.

Assistant coach Michael Ennis, who had been seen as a potential successor to Seibold, has left Manly and joined the St George Illawarra Dragons as an assistant.

NSW coach Laurie Daley has also knocked back requests to join Manly as a mentor to Seibold, citing a heavy workload in his State of Origin role.

100% @Phobia but the danger of imminent implosion is completely overblown.

Tom,Jake and DCE told mestrov they didn't rate seibold so old Tony gave Seibs an extension. DCE quit the club. Jake was not happy with the way DCE handled it this season but it hasn't changed the fact that Tom and Jake are both over seibs.

I fear what next season may bring. The club should bite the bullet and remove the band aid now

Yeah that’s exactly what happened 🫡

I think those of you making light of this have kind of lost sight of what a healthy club is. Stockholm Syndrome may soon be renamed to Manly Syndrome.

The three most consistent performers of late are Penrith, Storm and Roosters.
None of the stuff we get coming out of Manly would ever happen there.

When has their highest paid, long serving captain ever declared independently that they will leave the club? Never

When has there even been rumour of their most talented player wanting to leave the club for Superleague? Never

For that matter, these clubs move players on amd are quite open about their intentions, even back to the Roosters with Pearce.

When are there ever leaks about assistant coaching staff rejecting those clubs? Never

When are they ever looking for an advisor for their head coach? Never

The club is absolutely a basket case.

  • Turbo being shopped to UK
  • Daley reported in the paper as accepting a job before he's actually sat down with the club and discussed the role (Daley said this on BSB yesty). Who has leaked that? Mestrov & Seibold thinking it was pro-active press or the anti-Seibold faction thinking its a horrible idea?
  • Daley turns the job down
  • Ennis leaves due to politics (great coach, recently retired, will be a head coach)
  • DCE blatantly thumbing his nose at the club and not giving a toss (so arrogant, but maybe, so justified?)
  • Watmough hammering Seibold whilst he is the current Jersey Flegg coach (how's that for a disconnected pathways system)
  • David O'Donnell punted as pathways boss
  • Old boys pushing for Jason King and Matt Ballin
  • Penn family being approached - club's not for sale, but there's no family investment above NRL grants and general revenue streams of sponsorship, membership, merchandise and gates, etc

Enough is enough
Great points but I think a lot of these do not necessarily mean that they should be interpreted in the most negative way possible. Some elements of friction within an organisation can actually be a positive it just depends on how it is harnessed.

Not really @Budgie I also think "the club is absolutely a basket case". It has been that way to one degree or another since Scotty & Co took it over. Unfortunately, that's probably not going to change anytime soon.

However, IMO the posting of made-up nonsense as "facts", and not opinion, is counterproductive to creating "healthy" discussion on club issues. IMHO, the club is not in any danger of imminent implosion, based on the "facts" presented above.

I bow to your superior inside knowledge , it must have been interesting being at that meeting.

Remember Budgie , all this stuff is media driven , we are pretty down at present so it’s like they’ve got their big bad boy boots on , and have us on the ground kicking us in the guts.

A wise man once said , “ don’t believe anything you hear , anything you read & only believe half of what you see with your own eyes “.

Danny the Wanker is spewing bitterness & vile at present , and it’s fantastic for clicks.

I’m not saying it’s all untrue , but jeez I reckon a lot of it is just dribble.

Misery sure does love company, & what better company than a bunch of emotionally reactive snappers who swallow the bait every time hook, line & sinker 😂
Sure there are some things wrong and the dysfunction needs to be addressed. We just had a rotten season and its important that the club addresses the issues mentioned. No point in any pre-knee jerk reactions.

And how well has that been harnessed since 2011?
I can think of lots of positives and incremental improvements over this time. Over recent years our depth has improved significantly. This year we basically lost our entire starting forward pack and still came close to making the 8. Most teams in this position would have been competing for the spoon.
