Great player, pity we didn't hang onto him instead of pulling the other rein. Club would be in a better place culturally with a guy like him linking back to that decade of dominance side.

Great player and awesome competitor. Remarkable career length considering how hard he goes. He went through some tough times and he should be proud of how he has come out the other side. Not easy digging yourself out of a hole when you are struggling like that.
well said!

Probably my favourite player of all time. The 2009-2014 (2015 was a bit dark, even by Cohen’s standards) period version of Foran is Manly’s DNA in a nutshell.
Yeah, he's up there with my favourite players of all time as well. That era just had some outstanding talent, with Stevie Matai, Watmough and the Beaver up there in terms of Manly "DNA" as well.

Broke my heart when he left us, but gained enormous respect for him when he came out and spoke about the darkness that was surrounding him at the time. Bringing him back to the club was Manly's best decision over the last 10 years or so. Of course, we stuffed that up and my heart was broken again, but I've never wished him anything but the best the game and life can give him.

Great bloke to talk to, too. I'd run into him over the years around the beaches area at post offices, service stations and pharmacies, and he was always ready to talk and appreciative of any support. He was a bit warier when he was younger, but you could tell as he got older he more was comfortable with talking to fans. Probably just more comfortable in general.

Don't care how many other clubs he's played with or that he'll retire a Titan, he'll always be a Manly legend.

I'm just bummed he never made the 200 club at Manly and fell 4 short. He certainly deserved to be in that cohort.

I'll never forget a game against the Rorters in his first stint with us where he kept taking the line on and getting smashed but he perservered and shone. As other have pointed out someone else never engaged the line with such commitment to the club.

I wonder if this will influence Des and Chez to bow out in 2025 also? I think Des 100% is there but the $ Chaser will be too greedy for such alchemy! They certainly were a job lot!

i have the utmost respect for Foran. But I also have the utmost respect for DCE. Which one stuck it out at Manly?
I didn't like the way Foz left at all, what he and also Watmough did was different but around on par with what DCE pulled this year by giving the story to Danny Weidler to make DCE shine and place Manly under a poor light and not mentioning important info regarding the previous 12 months of contract talks.

It took me a bit, but hearing Foz talking about his life and how he could have done things better, including with Manly enabled me at least to move on and support him.

DCE backflipped cause Manly offered way overs, and it was his right and I have no problems with him accepting that offer.

So DCE didnt really stick it out, he came back to be paid as one of the higest earners in the game. Would he have come back if Manly offered same as titans offer - I dont know.

Let's see what DCE does on his way out, act with class or **** in the bed further painting manly in a poor light..

I heard he will be taking up a job with the Titans, but what the position is has not been announced.
Not surprising, considering Manly have a history of alienating their champion players when all's said and done.

Since Bozo's passing, Des and the crew of 06-15 were the last 'Manly' people left. Apart from a few 'ambassadors', I think we have Choc and Ox involved to some degree but who are the next leaders of our club? Long gone are the days of chiefs and coaches in the ilk of Stanton, Arthurson, Fulton, Hasler, Toovey. These are the men that made Manly what it was.

The Stewart brothers, Lyon, Foz, Ballin, Matai, King, Kite, Hasler should be all currently heavily involved in coaching, pathways, administration etc at Manly. At least a couple would have likely stuck around had it not been for Penn, DCE and the disastrous handling of our aging roster of champions

I was intending to avoid any mention of DCE on this site, in deference to Foran, who deserves accolades for his efforts in the game, despite his reported problems that he has had to confront. He was a very good competitor. However, I was watching and expecting some slight against DCE tucked away in the discussion, which frankly I consider is unfair to either of them, so I felt I needed to respond. I am quite prepared to debate the pros and cons regarding the Manly captain, but not on this site. In the meantime best wishes to Foran and his future. His efforts during his stay with the club 2009-2015 contributed much to Manly's success during those years.

I don't see why you brought up DCE under the Foz thread at all to be fair? DCE was only 'slighted' in response to you asking us to compare Foz & DCE.

You see. Too often people dont source their material. Look closely at the preceding comment (Under the Sticks) and then understand why I responded. Selective viewing there Cochrane. My comment was in response to that comment. I would have thought rather than seeing only what you wanted to see, that you would try to be impartial, mate. I only suggested a veiled comment about the two of them, AFTER that comment that lauded Foran but saw DCE as a money grabber. Like I said I didn't intend to comment on DCE at all until that comment.

Under the sticks just pondered whether Des and DCE will finish up this year, or if his belief that DCE will will chase the $$ due to Under the sticks view of DCE'S greediness for money.

How did that become a question as to who stuck it out at Manly between Foran and DCE to showcase who was the better man?

Come on Cochrane. Don't be obtuse. You know exactly what I was implying and what Sticks was implying. The point is he raised the issue about DCE in this site, not me as you are accusing. I was responding to that and the implied greed, contrary to Foran's behaviour. I was anticipating a dig at DCE from someone, and as I said I didn't want to pursue it on this site in respect of Foran and would debate the issue elsewhere. You then raised the issue again.

Nah, but i will drop it. I have just found your constant pro DCE on the smallest little matter since his announcement amusing.
And how do you you think I feel about those anti DCE. I strongly feel he is being unfairly portrayed and just as there are those among you who are anti DCE, there are others who feel he is being made the whipping boy. Pop over to the DCE site and I'll explain why.
