The No-Look News (Schuster Chronicles)

Boom Manly youngster Josh Schuster’s return has lasted just one game with the back-rower ruled out of the clash with the Tigers because of a calf complaint.

Schuster returned from an off-season ankle injury last week but suffered a different injury.

He could be sidelined for up to a month.

Ouch!! If Manly are saying a month, think more like 6 weeks. 😪

If true really disappointed in this one. Was excited about watching him play again.

Get well soon ......
To be fair,TomT has returned on time and Aloai has returned earlier than predicted.Maybe it’s the effort individual players put into rehab that dictates whether they return before,on or after their scheduled return.Look at Lawton last year.By all reports,he busted his butt in rehab and training and returned a lot earlier than most from his Achilles injury.

Josh and his management demand to play 5/8. Please do! I dare you! Go right ahead??
Mate, why do you have to blow things out of proportion?

Foran came back on a 1 year deal majority paid for by a 3rd party (now deceased) fan, with a 1 year option.

At that point in time, he was injury prone.

He had a good 2021 so Manly activated their 2nd year option - sensible IMO not to extend it beyond that due to his injury history.

He's had another good season so far & announced he wanted to keep going. I recall there was talk the club were offering him another 1 year deal at $300k - again a sensible decision IMO.

The Titans have come along & offered him a 2 year deal at a slightly higher wage & it appears he's accepted it.

He's made his peace with Manly & played his heart out for us & I'm sure he & the club will part on good terms & he'll be back in a coaching capacity once he retires.

Schuster's manager piped up last week about the club promising him the 5/8th position. It's apparent from Schuster's attitude towards Foz there's zero bad blood between them so I very much doubt we were at risk of losing him nor do I believe it has "forced" Foz out.

I think the club's plan all along was to move Schuster to 5/8th for 2023 once Foran's current contract expired.

Very reasonable summation. Surely he is worth 2 more years in our top 30. Surely he will offer, injuries or not, more value than say guys like Taufua and Boyle, who have literally given 0 input

Sure, if you think the official quotes and demands by Schuster's management are a lie.

He's signed with the Titans on reportedly 750k over two seasons ($375k per year).

If you think Manly can't afford that in their cap, you're a moron - and probably need to look in the mirror about idiotic comments.

Foran is not being re-signed to accommodate Schuster. That's ALSO why we signed Tuilagi.

So yes, Schuster has cost us Foran (no matter what side you look at it), and Foran is giving us MUCH better value for money at present.

Longer term might be another story, given potential. But given his health and weight, I'm unsure how sustainable that is.
So what you are saying is Forans future was decided when manly signed Tuilagu, because he was to take Josh's 2nd row spot when he went to 5/8

now that fine person is a kick arse post

Out for up to a month. He has missed half the season. We are frigging cursed this year. Key players out for too many weeks. Hopefully we remain in contention during the 2nd half of the season and we have everyone fresh.
