Fantasy sports is relatively new in Australia but gaining popularity all the time. Players in major sporting competitions worldwide participate in fantasy leagues for their sport.

Recently, someone in Europe (Germany I think) created a bot that could identify fantasy teams created by players in the EPL then track trending changes in those teams. He basically had the same inside info on team changes that the players had and would make these public.

Clubs got the ****s because it became common knowledge when a star player may be in or out when they were trying to keep it from the opposition.

the lack of shame and understanding of his role in the club is staggering
personal ego ahead of team performance. in the old days a forward would take him behind the sheds and supercoach his head in

If DCE has been playing to try and boost his Sueprcoach points then it's been an epic fail as he is no standout compared to his peers. Maybe someone should tell him that repeat sets get SC points, or try assists, or line break assists....all those things we struggled with last year.

If he is admitting he chose plays to benefit his fantasy points over what was best for the team then I don't know what you can possibly say about that. However I will give him the benefit of the doubt as I haven't listened to the podcast in question and he has probably been taken out of context - you'd hope so.

Anyway I'd take that whole story with a grain of salt - there is no way players are checking their fantasy points at half time, they aren't allowed to have phones in the dressing room. I listen to quite a few SC podcasts and I listened to one the other day and they interviewed a player from Cronulla (Townsend ??) and straight up asked him if he or any teammates played NRL fantasy games. He said he knows no one who does and he never hears anyone talking about it. He said quite a few of them are into the NFL/NBA fanatsy leagues but allegedly no interest in NRL. Now he could be just saying that so there's no controversy, but he seemed genuine

“I can. People called it a lifetime contract and maybe we will have to make that contract a bit longer so it is a lifetime contract.

“It would be a special thing [to be a one-club player]. It just doesn’t happen often any more. If I was able to stay at Manly, a place where I’m now raising family, [it would be great]. I’ve had success before, but I want more."

“I love the beaches and I’ve become a part of the northern beaches. It would be nice to finish there, either when this contract ends or extend.”



So basically he said he may play on a bit longer and it would love that to be at Manly.

But somehow you got that he is asking for a massive upgrade?

same could be said when he said he was sitting it out when he signed too cheap a contract.
that is a pretty big add. if he have sucked it up and played cheap when he signed then fair enough. but both ways seems a little too much about him

I don’t recall DCE ever saying or threatening to sit out because of his contract......never mate! That was all media rubbish & speculation. I followed the saga pretty thoroughly & to be honest DCE copped a lot of flack when he did nothing wrong. Yes he visited other clubs which he was entitled to do, however Manly made an offer to good to refuse & he ended up staying. Like I said he didn’t stipulate the amount he stayed for & had the club not been so fvcking dumb they’d have got him for much less coz he actually agreed to a set contract for considerably less earlier but decided to opt to keep Foran & we all know how that ended up!
