The sky is falling....

I’m back!

First post in about 2 years. Been reading the last few weeks and couldn’t resist putting in my two cents. It’s depressing at times reading silvertails and how quickly we abandon our team.

I think it’s very premature to freak out about Barrett or Croker. Watching on Friday night was one of the most appalling refereeing displays I’ve even seen. The momentum swing when afb got penalized for poor play the ball was criminal. 10 min later I watched lilyman tunnelball one when they were on the attack and nothing. The refs did everything short of awarding penalty tries for breathing too loudly.

I’ve loved the style of footy Barrett has us playing. It’s up tempo and exciting and I never felt like we couldn’t win that game against Newcastle. The last field goal attempt we had they were 5-10m offside and it should have been a penalty.

I think Croker looked a bit nervous and tried to overplay his role.

Positives though was I thought our forward pack was dominant. The club has managed to identify some talent that has been overlooked elsewhere really well. Tangles looks great. I’m willing to excuse a poor game from sirro cause there’s bound to be a bit of rust after playing so little footy last year. Shaun lane looks like he’s becoming a beast! Kelly looked like he’d stepped up a bit as well.

I’m actually pretty positive. I think our forward pack looks great and can stick with the best of them. Time and work on combinations is what’s needed (and some decent reffing).

Bring on the seels and and the season ahead my feathered friends.

We could possibly introduce a "chicken little" rating ..... when you are awarded your 100th you get a ST promotional pack consisting of a skirt, a dummy, a hard-hat and knee braces ......

I had to look up chicken little for your reply to make sense haha. It was actually an asterix reference. The chief who always thinks the sky is about to fall down. I guess on some of the threads it’s the old saying “misery loves company”.

That’s not to say criticism and venting doesn’t have a place. It’s just funny stuff reading a few weeks ago people bashing Shaun lane and now he’s killing it. He costs us almost nothing too. In terms of recruitment I think we’ve spent quite smartly considering the handicaps imposed on us

looks just like your post 2 year ago....

Lurker" Geez guys its the standard doom and gloom on silvertails. The sky is falling (maybe you just had too many beers)....."

lol

Welcome back

Pffft, who doesn't know the chicken little reference! @Woodsie damn kids today!

Welcome back and thank you for your great positive post .
The sky is not falling , we just have some passionate supporters on here that don't take loses very well . These supporters on here are loyal as they have been on this site as long as I can remember passionately supporting their club and going to games .
AT the end of the day excuses don't give us 2 competition points and we cant blame the ref for our own errors and bad discipline .
No the sky is not falling and the only way to reach for the sky and keep every Manly supporter on a high and happy is.........
by getting 2 points from a win next week and move up the ladder .

Hahahaha nice pickup. I think I stopped posting because of the never ending negativity. Used to be a few delmege trolls on here too that were living in the past. And I was always a DCE not foz man. Good way to get shouted down through that period

It is also a case that some of the more vocal characters after a loss nailed their flags (and credibility) so strongly to the Barrett is a dud mast in 2016 .... the very thought of him being successful fills them with horror ...

Even the slightest set back sends them into an orgasmic state of anticipation of being able to yell from the roof-tops ... WE TOLD YOU SO!!

People need to understand that this team is very much a work in progress. All I want to see is them learn from mistakes.

The game on Friday night was lost on the back of our own errors and discipline. Ball control must improve!! we have to control the ruck better!! our wingers have to do better at defusing opposition bombs and be a threat when we do them!! Our halves must manage a game better!!! So many positives out of the game, wonderful defence, when Drugcastle had 15 minutes of ball on our line, disappoints me that we conceded 3 really soft tries!!

Our go forward was excellent and our 2nd phase footy very good. For a first hit out it was a high quality game, if we can get our **** together in relation to our discipline, we will win more than our share of games.

This weeks game shapes as one of ball control, if we do that, we are a fighting chance, Parra v Penrith was all about possession, first half Parra looked very strong and their halves ran the game, once the tide turned possession wise they wilted pretty quick. Our forwards will need to get the metres again for our halves to have a chance. Big test this Sunday!!

The moral of the story and the fact is ....
EVERY club is politically divided but not EVERY SUPPORTER gives up ,including stop posting on our forum and stop going to matches.
Have a great day lurker and keep up your positive attitude and never stop posting again as Birds of a feather stick together !!!

Haha. I never gave up. Or stopped going to games. I just stopped posting on here. I support through thick and thin. In 15 years of being in tipping comps I’ve never picked against manly (really hurt in the Northern eagles days)

I always think we can win. I just don’t like irrational black clouds that seem to relish ripping us down. It’s as though some people look forward to someone failing. I’ve got enough black clouds in my own head

As soon as they pull on a maroon and white jumper I want them to succeed. Giving it mercilessly to a 20 year old kid (brian kelly) before he has a chance to develop. Doesn’t sit well with me. At least recognize when he does well. He was one of our best backs on Friday. Stopped an almost certain try coming up and in early.

Blake green was his problem last year. So before anyone anoints him (green) a future immortal consider his D. I thought Croker was more solid in defense than green was last year

Every supporter responds different to a loss and every forum has the so called dark clouds of despondency but we need a balance with positive people like you to that gives every cloud a silver lining .
As longs as we don't give up on our beloved Eagles its ok to express our feelings of disappointment
