Well in the past they still had most of that and still had to resort to cheating. Most of which seems to have been conveniently forgotten by NRL and media executivesWe are talking past not present.

So basically everyone thinks the Melb players were paid such big overs because they just wanted to with no outside pressures, instead of lining up the pockets of upper management with the surplus funds like most businesses do.Well in the past they still had most of that and still had to resort to cheating. Your posts make much more sense to me now that you have shown everyone who you really support. What name do you post under on the Storm forums?Conversely no local playing pool and having to pay overs just for "potential" up and comers, overs to retain the talent they created when the opportunity arises to move closer to home, losing Orford(for the same reasons) along with lacking free exposure in a general way like in NSW and QLD.
The issue is not as clear cut as haters want to make it, along with other reasons that fans of other clubs prefer to not do the research in because it is easier to throw stones than receive.
The players accepted multiple contracts as well as cars , boats, home constructions etc etc. They were complicit in this as much as Bellyache and the Storm executive at the time yet no one has been made to accept guilt and the major players at the center of it all are paraded as NRL legends. Can't get much more hypocritical. So basically everyone thinks the Melb players were paid such big overs because they just wanted to with no outside pressures, instead of lining up the pockets of upper management with the surplus funds like most businesses do.

Thanks for posting that, I hadn't realised how many times Melbourne featured in that rogues gallery - seems systematic to me.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Rugby_League_salary_cap#Breaches
Seems systematic to me, just like when Police promote a big drug bust yet probably miss 2000 other instances that are bigger and smaller in size.
Basically most teams have been caught, except ManlyThanks for posting that, I hadn't realised how many times Melbourne featured in that rogues gallery - seems systematic to me.
7 times before they were caught for the big one! I stopped counting at 8, but it seems they tried to hide their deceit with "minor" breaches.
If it makes you happy in that list Manly is never mentioned but 15 other clubs are....Thanks for posting that, I hadn't realised how many times Melbourne featured in that rogues gallery - seems systematic to me.

Given our u20s halves lack any ability (reference yesterday), our team lacks direct running blah blah blah it doesn't surprise me we don't feature.Basically most teams have been caught, except Manly

A little cryptic - but my high school debating and mock trial days (yes I was a hot stud) know what you are saying
Twisting comments talent i see.Given our u20s halves lack any ability (reference yesterday), our team lacks direct running blah blah blah it doesn't surprise me we don't feature.
Damn I even remember you criticised DCE for scoring a try in the 2011 GF. So based on your appraisal there is no need to pay overs as by and large you think the team is second rate, and we know you are the oracle!
Must have been a poor education system back then to think the image had "cryptic qualities"A little cryptic - but my high school debating and mock trial days (yes I was a hot stud) know what you are saying
No - just a nod to your constant talking down of the team, so just acknowledging that fact and then using my newly acquired skills in "economics 101". We all realise they are paid market value, and applying the TC rule it is clear we are never in threat of breaching the capTwisting comments talent i see.
I never stated they don't have any ability just nothing special worthy of all the praise they have been receiving--Cust with some good coaching might make a steady halfback.
The comment about DCE was in reference to the dummy and go near the post try when there was a huggggggggge overlap, just an indicator of over-complicating and lacking composure---yes he still scored but that wasn't the point.
and he is on the ropes!Must have been a poor education system back then to think the image had "cryptic qualities"

The theory of Melbourn having 3 players and converting average players is so overstated. They get the cream of Qld juniors which they share with the Donkeys. And have some outstanding representative players as weli. Bromwich brothers, Asofa Solomona, Vunivalu, Addo Carr, Chambers, Munster, Harris, Finnucane, Kaufusi. Where are these average plodders that he’s turned into stars. Then there’s the players they used to have who retired or let go Inglis, Folau, Korobete, Crocker, Kevin Proctor, Blair, O’Neil, Widdop etc the list goes on. And don’t bother crapping on about them being good players because of Bellamy. When you get free passage to pick the eyes out of the best juniors in Qld, anyone with one half blind eye would land talent. Yes Bellamy can coach, no doubt. Give him the Wests Tigers next year and let’s see if he keeps his 68 percent winning record. One thing I will say about Bellamy as a successful coach against someone like Wayne Bennett at Brisbane.....really, especially in the last few years, other than their so-called "Big 3", the Drizzle have been a bit like we were under Des. They had a few talented kids plus a few journeymen players and he has brought out their best to keep them a winning team. Regardless how the club put together its core group and kept them there, Bellamy has managed to keep them at the pointy end of the field.
Bennett on the other hand, especially during the 90's, had virtually 3/4 of the Qld Origin and Aussie test squads at his disposal and frankly, even Peter Sharp could have won premierships with the talent they had.
