The Turbo's

I know its early days but are these boys going to be better then the stewart brothers in years to come. Looking back when brett and glen started their careers the turbo's look in front already but i do realize there is along way to go .
I do agree with you but the Stewart's have 2 premiership notches in their belt. If Tom and Jake equal that I will be happy if they better it they will be legends for the ages

I agree at this same stage, they are in front. They are natural leaders. Rare talents

But the Stewarts were amazing, their improvement made them club legends. Their longevity was amazing.

Get back to me in 10 years and I will be able to give a better assessment.

How lucky are we to be able to compare them.

Huge call...
Glenn was basically a 5/8 in a backrowers body and snake was one of the best fullbacks ever to play for manly...

Love jake, but aside from the 40 odd tackles i dont think he brings more to the table than glenn, and tom is a top prospect, but snake was brilliant... Unparalleled in attack, organised the backline better than any fb in the game defensively, and also added some 5/8 qualities late in his career once his speed started to wane...

For mine, its gonna be a massive ask for the turbos to be spoken of that highly

Turbos will be more dominant, as there is a 3rd one coming up the Junior ranks @:D

Hope Manly manage them and not burden them too much with off field stuff.@

Footy can not be 100% of their lives or they'll burn out :wait:

We have hopefully years with them to judge , but at the moment they are on track aren't they

Thats awesome mate. Great young blokes and we are very lucky to have them.

Tell you one thing for free. The NRL needs to realise club juniors are important and they need to reflect this in the salary cap.

Every team will have excellent juniors come thru that are world beaters. These guys should get a reduction in the cap.

My idea is that each side gets 3 juniors that as long as they have been at the club before the age of 14 get a reduction. Starting at 20% in year a 2 of first grade. 40% at year 5 and 60% at year 8.

Would need tweaking but would reward clubs and supporters alike. There would still be player movement and marquee signings but would allow boys like the turbos to stay at their home clubs.

Couldnt agree with you more mate . Its not rocket science to work it out is it . Hopefully this will happen so we can keep onto these young guns coming through.

My God, at their respective ages and time in NRL, the Turbo's are light years ahead of the Stewarts.
Glenn Stewart was pretty average in his first few years at Manly, then trained hard and became a superstar (pity he morphed back to his early days at the end of his career)
Brett was gifted and progressive. He fulfilled all prophecies and exceeded most

I have to politely disagree.

Snake has done more jaw dropping things on a football field than I can remember from just about any other player. Go back and watch some highlights videos on Youtube. I think back to so many pressure games at Manly against top opposition in the heat of battle and Snake would chase a midfield bomb, pluck it out of the air and score to completely turn a game.

I remember Snake running onto an inside ball from Chez in the heat of Grand Final. I remember Glenn winning a Churchill Medal and grubbing through for Robertson on his own 20m line. These are special plays that remain on "club neutral" highlights reels at NRL HQ for decades.

Being a great football is so much more than raw talent...it's about bringing your A game to the biggest battles on the biggest stage. At the present time, all the Turbo's have done is play some good club football. The Stewart's are bonafide Manly legends with multiple premierships to their names.

Long way to go for the Turbo's before they can hold a candle to the Stewart's IMO.

Exactly, so what is your point? The comparison is based on Stewarts and Turbos at the same point in their NRL career.
The rest is crystal ball stuff.

I agree, if they both get anywhere near those two then I'll be happy.
I've seen all the great Manly fullbacks since Bob Batty, and Eadie, and Stewart wins that contest as great a player that Eadie was.

These two and Ben when he comes through should be what the club builds around. They have a big future ahead of them and some premierships for Manly.

Do we forget that snake was always the keeper for manly in the early days.
Glenn was almost let go at one point before hasler and Co realised they may loose both if that happened.
Gifty matured into an amazing ball player and leader under that regime. Brett was always a superstar.

Given Tom is 20 and seen as a shoe in for the blues this year and jake at 22 is already a member of the roos it's completly fair to say the turbos are better at this point of their respective careers.

The real question will be if the current leadership can lead them to greatness the Stewarts reached......

I bloody hope so....

Spot on mate , how lucky that we can lose 2 legends and say " hey no problem these 2 should fill the gaps ".

It's amazing how some of the fans on here change history. You are 100% correct, Glenn was nothing special at all, here to ensure little brother was happy and content.
Des Hasler created the rest

Walked past Ben on my way into the Souffs game, looks a lot like Tom right now rather than Jake. I know he has been playing back row (which would suit our team) and I am not sure what his speed is like but he might end up a centre. Got 3 years to fill out first though so who knows.
