Hypothetical - So lets say we go after Johnathon Thurston on a 7 year massive deal, say from 2017.

And he gets an "injury" in the second year and retires.

The NRL has set a precedent with the way they have allowed poker machines to pay out a dodgy retirement, (and what was a very dodgy contract length to begin with for such a player) in my book this is also known as cheating. And anyway the NRL would be very hard pressed not to allow any other club with pokie revenue or oodles of monay to do the same. Legally could get messy if they didn't.

The NRL is pathetic and totally corruptible by broadcasters, full stop.

Snowden just retired the same way,it's not a new precedent at all.
The pensioning off of Choc just to clear the Parra Cap Breaches is what other Clubs are concerned about.

The problem for Manly is that it's privately owned and funded, so any payout would come out of the Franchise/Owners pockets.

Parra has a wealthy Leagues Club to fnance Choc's retirement.

Manly Leagues Club is basically trading isolvent until the DAs get approved for the new owners of the site. They haven't contributed to the Football side since 1999 😕
