The Winning Way

First Grader
Really hope Manly attack finds its winning Attacking formula this week - playing through that middle 3rd at speed.
The past 2 weeks Manly murdered Roosters up the middle that 2nd half and again Tigers first half, before going to that sideways, long pass game earning no momentum and leading to turnovers and intercepts.
Playing fast through the middle with Api, Turbo and DCE getting 2nd phase, will worry ANY team.
This also earns space for Walker and Uate after the middle defence capitulates...hoping for this on Sunday....

When we play at our best I see it this way.

Jake and Taupau lay a platform while they and the forwards batter the middle of the field.
Api and Tom take advantage of the ruck and quick play the balls and offloads.
DCE is the "cherry" on top capitalising on good field position and getting the ball to our strike weapons out wide like Walker and Uate.
And Green is the glue that holds the attack together.

And our forwards only lay the platform/establish dominance when they have our backs taking plenty of hitups. We need the workload to be evened out with Taufua and Siro missing still. All the backs must account for these losses (which have been evident losses) along with Winterstein, who i've been impressed with of late. We showed we can defend and attack well in that tigers game, although we also showed that we can't play the 80, with many points being leaked in small periods of almost each of our recent games (against storm it was 12-6 at half time!!, yet we just let them have a period of dominance)

The only good bit of attacking play in last weeks game was when Lloyd Perrett poured through the middle to score under the sticks. The Tigpies are weak up the guts and we didn't exploit it in the second half, the Dogs have a similar weakness up the middle and that is where we need to target them. The dogs like to play up and in so rushed passes are intercept candidates. All year Manly has created many opportunities, I hope this week we see a focus on our defense because that is a major concern right now.
