part of that is still the hasler effect of backended and overly long contracts yet some want him back.

The pricks very clearly have money, amd the rhetoric you hear is they care (which is bullsh*t).
So unless there is some ulterior motive, why not just sell the club?
The arseholes have no intention of spending the money required to make the club great. So put up the For Sale sign and stop the rot you arrogant cheapskates.

Maybe during the toovey era.. but other than taufua and cherry Evan's there are no other players from the hasler days. I believe we came out the other end of haslers mess a couple of years ago even with cherry's pay packet. We are suffering from a lack of leadership and culture this time around

its the flow on effects of backending. To get a player at the end of Watmough/Stewart/Matai you have to backend them as well
So basically, we are still feeling the flow on effects of every salary cap decision ever made since the cap came into effect ?

I have to disagree @The Who A dismal year is not going to see me turn my back on this team. Yes management and coaching, player attitudes have a lot to answer for but to suggest those Turbo boys should leave the club they love is insane. They will be the ones to lead us to new successes. They are invested in Manly from first grade down to juniors at Monavale. A rebuild will happen and they will be the key. We have enough people quitting when the going gets tough.
The club's proud history is because of past players who bled maroon and white like the Turbos currently do.
Manly deserves the Turbos we just need the club to stand up from top to bottom and be as Manly as they are. Then things will turn around.

Understandable to be a bit emotional and disgruntled when things are not going well with the club but to overcome and fight through the current adversity definitely should not include losing some of the club's best present and future assets and the culture they represent , Jake and Tom are certainly all this [ and more for that matter ] and taking into account that there could be a third Turbo on the i st grade scene soon . Not much to get some gratification from Manly this year but the hopeful prospect of having the Turbo "s playing for Manly [ and as one club players ] into the future is always one very bright spot . Regardless who the majority club owners are , now or in the future .

exactly right nicki good post the turbos are in the fight as well particularly tom whose defense is rubbish . As far as Jakee is concerned since soo hitups havent been as effective which i think he needs a rest only. Call it as it is i know i deserve the turbos because i am the sea eagles just like them.

Love Tom but he is still making defensive errors he made in the Holden Cup at fullback he looked good in the SOO but he was on the wing.
Seems that some actual coaching is in order.

Great to read that you still have faith we can recapture our former glory. Unfortunately I don't.
We are now the poorest suburban club in the NRL. We don't have a Leagues Club, nor owners who have a clue about how to save this once mighty club. Our membership is dwindling. The NRL doesn't care about RL on the north side of Sydney Harbour. Brookie is crumbling and is no longer a 'Fortress'. We have too many players here just for the paychecks. We are in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. We are in danger of getting our first wooden spoon.
Blind faith or supreme optimism won't get us out of this mess.
If you can show me a credible plan that gives me some reason to believe we have a future I'd love to hear it.
