In reality with The Chaser working from home , as someone on here put it beautifully, there is a fair case we don't win a game from here on. Dollars has turned the seasons end into a funeral march ; the body language of the side is awful. One early Tigers try and Captain Courageous will raise the drawbridge for the Tiger Army .

I don't think I've ever seen the vast majority of died in the wool supporters wanting a 300 gamer out of a club quite like this before. Quite the legacy.

That will match Rainbow Gate for an end of season run.

I think the Tigers will really towel us up and I can't see another win. Saints going great at home and Dolphins / Warriors with heaps to play for... unlike us if we lose this week.

Hope I'm wrong

As a side note expecting another big one from Adam Doue
He's exactly the sort of big bodied , skilful bloke we need to cover a lot of positions instead of relying on plodding edge forwards like Ben T and The Duck to do it.
Once we have a back go down it's always curtains.Ben T makes more errors in attack and defence than anyone in our team and most come when he's found out playing in the centres.

If not for the injury history I'd be all over him .. be a risk but that risk
would be refected in the purchase price I suppose.
Don't agree about Ben - reckon he has evolved into a good NRL standard forward. But not confident about this game. Tigers look to have a bit more spirit than Manly at this timer.

Have not rated Navale about '..nothing..'. Have given him credit for having good speed and relentless tackling. Can play long minutes (at least in NSW Cup).
Im not anti the guy , and haven’t seen him play , but in typical ST rhetoric he’s the “ next coming of JC” and it’s criminal that he’s been sitting in reserves.

So , let’s hope he gets some good minutes and as I say , I wish him well.

Still an obligation to select the best available 17 and this line up looks about right in the current circumstances
Not too sure what is required for Lehi to have a better influence in games from the back again , no doubt to just bulk up a little bit and more experience in attack as most opposition defences are paying a bit more attention to him for a couple of months now
Navale should get some decent minutes as Simpkin should need a break at some stage and intertwined with Jazz spending some time at 9 , again all things normal .
With Jake available , and either Simpkin or Jazz on the bench , 2 props or middles required on the bench also , really came down to and when available Talau , Brown Navale for the remaining spot
So understandable why Navale has just been out of the mix for a good part of the season
Not sure also how to ease Walsh into a i st grade role or opportunity and with Fogarty on the scene soon but is going to have to be some plan
Then Large most likely not too far away from the same situation
Ideal if Walsh could get a shot before season 's end but guess that putting D C E on the bench would be just as controversial as ommitting completely
Always could put Walsh on the bench if the side fails again this week however or at some stage for the remaining 3 games then

This is a bit I think so many fans get wrong.

The anti Waddell vitriol on social media currently is enormous , and I’m certainly not going to say he’s top shelf but given our injury woes I’m not surprised he’s being picked in the run on team.

Yes maybe Chee Kam is more deserving , although I didn’t see that last week.

Fans get a real set on a player and can’t see the Forrest for the trees.

As I have always said , we aren’t at training , we know zero about attitudes , yet we consider ourselves selector experts based purely on views.

I laugh at this at times.

I agree re comments about fans getting things wrong, but there’s two points to consider when talking about Waddell. He’s been in the top squad all season, barring suspension(can’t recall if he’s missed due to injury, but that’s neither here nor there) and his form/ability,does not warrant continued selection in First Grade. But those fans that whinge that he keeps getting picked ahead of Navale, are not really using common sense or maybe have no idea. They’re comparing apples with oranges.Navale is not being picked to cover back row or centre, whereas Waddell is,for better or worse.

Waddell is a classic moneyball signing. I don’t mind him. Does a job for what he earns. Will never win you a game, but wont lose you many either. Not sure Navale has been knocking the door down, but has earnt his chance. Let’s see what he can do on longer minutes.

Manly 13+

He should never be third best second row option at any NRL club. Only Manly are this short sighted. Look at every other clubs backrowers. Tell me who has a worse option than Waddell as first man up? No one is who. Not the Titans nor the Bunnies, nor Parra or the Knights. What is this great backrow injury crisis you refer to Mark?

Olakau'atu is the only backrower injured at present.

It's terrible, terrible recruitment.

I would argue Waddell has had a big contribution in quite a few of our losses this year through his dog**** defence and ability to come up with an error. Mind you he has played every game bar two he missed earlier this year through suspension. That's not really a moneyball/depth and more a regular player in our 17.

It's not fault he keeps getting picked because there are no other options, that's on the coach and recruitment staff for their terrible recruitment. But when people say things like 'the coaches know best' or try to justify why young guys like Navale haven't gotten a run, it doesn't really add up because our track record of doing anything right hasn't exactly been there recently.

I think that's the plan that they're looking at if we lose 1-2 of the game coming up, but I hope that we win. No point changing things now as we still have a chance. I rather experience at these stage of the comp than trying to bring in Walsh and get injured from teams trying to fight for the final. All the teams we've left are in with a chance. He should spend the off season train hard put on abit of weight and get ready for next year, but maybe 10-15mins of game time would also b good.

Well I don’t have that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach on this one. Given that we are now at desperation stakes and the tigs aren't I think we'll jag a win here. Will give us forlorn hope for at least 1 more week till the inevitable Dragons disaster hits the following week.
