Tommy T long term fullback?

Why did this thread get so personal? Play the ball people
Simple Dan
A local junior who is a champion
Why question the best fullback we could have???
I don't see an issue with discussion on the future given his size I don't know why it got personal between people on the site, if was a valid discussion point
He will be a bigger body in time...
Who cares
Still the best option you could want in the 1....Gun fullback.
Personally...as a local junior - I find it insulting to question this champs future at Manly.
Very confident Bozo and Co will already know it if I do so good times ahead.

Agree Dan.

Never started this thread to say we should move him just to to discuss the guys physical size considering he's only 20.

He still has at least 3 years growth then add on the 'growth' most men add in mid to late 20's and he could be massive.

Agree that he should play fullback for as long as he wants but at some point he might just get too big and the speed might decrease.

Luke Lewis a good case in point. Saw an old game where he was on the wing the other day. Long and lanky 21yo now look at him. Matt Gillett from the Broncos started as a 5/8 and now look at him.

Lewis and Gillett are nothing like Tom this is hilarious some of the comparisons.

Don't need to see the tripe above.
Tommy T is a fullback all day.
Has skills supporting the ruck and on the edges hits the outside backs when needed
If any question...run the ball more.
Absolute gun fullback and will be there the next 10 years regardless of this thread.

Ok turbo1 you got me.

Oh hang on.

Both those guys were and are top NRL players. Both started in the backs. Both grew out of their teen bodies hence moving to the pack. Both have played for Australia (so can't be crp) both pretty well sum up the question I asked all the way back in the beginning.
You are correct that neither play fullback. Neither are called Tommy turbo and neither played for manly. Good job champ....
You're right they are nothing like or what Tom will be yeah?

It's all opinions but don't forget for every opinion I have or you have there are a lot of people that have seen a lot more RL than us.
Doesn't make them right or wrong just opinions.

I go all the way back to the original post that started this. Let's compare apples for apples. Inglis is probably the only player you could compare in size to Tommy for a fullback.
I remember him bursting onto the scene as a fast and nimble machine for the storm all those years ago. Then a few years later when he was in his early 20s he got a bit overweight and it really showed. Always a special talent but it could have gone either way. He obviously trimmed back down.
Could happen to Tommy down the line.
Players that big CAN pick up injuries, loose the speed and just change.
I hope Tommy plays fullback till the day he retires but it might just not be possible.....

Holy how many beers have you had today Batman!

WTF has this thread got to do with him playing fullback for the next 10 years?

It's a discussion on the guys size and where that may land him in 10 years. That's all. End of.

Neither you nor me or even the man himself know that. Time is the only one that will enlighten us....

He's about as big as inglis right? Fullback.

He is now, but I do see the point being made - he may well fill out and end up a lot bigger than he is now. Watching it happen with my nephew and my cousin right now, and much the same thing occurred with my ex - all around 6'5, 6'6ish, and were all lanky, even gangly in their late teens/early 20s. My ex ended up around 125kg by the time he was 30, massive upper body - and huge problems with his knees and shins. Nephew and cousin are in their 20s now, and they're starting to pack on the upper body size and muscle as well - my nephew was a centre a couple of years ago, he's a prop now.

Only time will tell with Tommy, but it's not uncommon for tall, lanky boys to fill out and become actual giants within a couple of years.

The skills that Tom posses will only get better and only backs have the skills he has thats why the comparison to inglis is alot more accurate. And also what position has more impact on a game, fullback or second row. I agree that if injuires catch up with him in his 30s he will be moved, but to centre or 6 not second row or prop lol.

Tommy should do what is best for him.

As long as he continues to wear maroon and white, I'll be happy.

I'd love nothing more than to see Ben join Jake and Tom in our NRL side. If half the stories about Ben are true, he is going to be an absolute gun.

A couple of people have stated ben is better than both Tom and Jake.

Does anyone know how the third brother is going? Age? Progression? I remember reading an article that suggested he was the most talented of the 3.. which I find impossible to believe.

Anyone who has played the game knows it is way harder on the body in the pigs than the backs.

To suggest someone would have a longer career by increasing the amount of collisions they are involved in is mind boggling.

I love the way he hits it up 1 off the ruck with guts speed and determination. The more he does that the more risks injury but its rugby league so go hard or go home son.

Tom is our fullback end of story for the next 10 years @ least.

Has been playing backrow and centre and recently represented NSW in under 16s origin at number 11. If the stories are true he is the best of the 3.

while I hope he has a mortgage on the number 1 for many years to come he's looking bigger and bigger each week.

he's obviously special and I'm thinking he could be a lot like inglis and battle his physical size in the years to come....

both his brothers are forwards so it pretty likely that he still has some growing.

Would be an Interesting donk with 3 turbosup front.....
Yes, until Albert Hopoate comes along in about 5yrs and then I think he'll move to centres.
