Tommy Talau

Doesn't have to be much, maybe a T&T or a supplementary spot. IMO the situation changed when Talau decided to leave.

Also, I'm fairly certain the departing players list came before the game? Presumably that means we intended to give him another contract before the injury.

Do we want to be a club that people actually want to join, or screws over their players to save a dime? We have been the latter for a decade, and I think that should change.
Fair call if some sort of agreement had been reached.

The Dragons put Volkman on the streets after they discovered he had suffered an injury at the Warriors prior to the 2024 season. They ripped up his contract, and were absolutely blasted for it. I believe they also had to pay him $40k in the end.

Meanwhile, the Warriors, in similar circumstances to what we are in now, paid for his rehab and looked after him for the remainder of that year. They had no obligation to do so, but they did it because he suffered the injury while at the Warriors.

These are two different scenarios. 1st you are wrong the dragons got in trouble because they ripped up the contract we are ripping up nothing he was leaving. I never said we don't cover his medical and rehab as we will as he was insured with us last night but to suggest we owe him a new contract is ridiculous.

What you are suggesting when a player is out of contract if he is injured the club owes him a new deal wow.

If he was offered a handshake deal contract, then absolutely yes.

Would be incredibly scummy if take away his contract offer because he was injured in a game playing for us.

The first example is to present a precedent on two things. Firstly, offering a contract, and then retracting it because of medical reasons, and secondly, the Warriors looking after his rehab post employment.

It depends on the details, but if we don't even support his rehab, that is pathetic.

You serious? the warriors knew he was injured and withheld the info from the dragons. The dragons did him wrong but the warriors were also dirty.

The warriors did the right thing in the end but only after pressure.

Im pretty sure they pay medical and rehab as an employee at time of injury

I think moving Talau on just sums up the modern game and how the club manages the cap, sad to see him go as he really put in for the club.
I agree. Strikes me a a confidence player with reasonable 1st grade ability. Makes a few mistakes but is a more than adequate back up for the outside backs. Hope there's a re-think and we retain him.

For similar reasons, Mestrov can't go out and blast DCE and call him money hungry or something. It's such a terrible look for the club, and any prospective players.

Imagine you suffer a workplace injury on your last day, that prevents you from getting another job. Imagine if the workplace you're at, not only doesn't help you, actively tells you to piss off. Would you recommend prospective replacements to join that business? Absolutely not.
As previously posted, help with his surgery and rehab sure but certainly do not feel obligated to offer a top 30 contract
