Touch judges should referee games

Notice how referee small referred to the touch judge for the call and then judged ‘try’.
Obviously he had no idea, so why get a bloke half the width of the field away to make the call?. It wasn’t even a try but was given based on insufficient evidence.

Absolutely pathetic.

If the referee has doubt after being right there he should call it no try and let the cameras prove it, or let’s just let the touchiest officiate, at least thats one less idiot on the field.

While the penalties were split evenly I reckon they got it wrong almost every time with the dropped ball/strips.
Also, having the ref make a decision about a try when they have NFI is stupid. Go to the video ref. If he can't decide then give the ref a chance to decide. But there was no way that last Gold Coast 'try' should have been allowed.

That try in particular I thought the ref was ruling held up till he got some call ( just what I thought was about happen )
And then for him to rule try when he was no way near it was just typical of the standard of refereeing
But in say this if it was Manly up the other end I would have been happy for it to be a try
Still doesn’t get away with the fact that the ref can call a try when he certainly didn’t see it
