Tom Trbojevic has instructed his agent to put out the feelers in Super League as intrigue grows around his long-term future.
It comes as Trbojevic is the latest big-name player to withdraw from the Ashes as he battles a knee complaint.
It is understood that Trbojevic was keen to push his case for the Kangaroos but has been hampered by a knee issue for a large chunk of this season.
While the knee complaint does not require surgery it needs significant rest to repair itself. Trbojevic reached out to Kangaroos coach Kevin Walters to let him know he was unavailable.
Tom Trbojevic has tasked his agent with exploring options overseas.
Trbojevic also feels that he needs a good pre-season to hit the ground running to push Manly’s premiership claims for next season after they missed out on the top eight.
More intriguing though is his long-term future. Trbojevic has been locked in talks with extending his deal at Manly which expires at the end of next year.
While he has made it clear he won’t play against Manly he has tasked agent Paul Sutton with exploring options overseas. That includes speaking with Super League clubs about the prospect of Trbojevic becoming a marquee signing in England for 2027.
Trbojevic has no interest in quitting the club before his contract expires. However, he instructed Sutton to look at potential Super League clubs feeling he may need to move on when his deal ends.
Manly are keen to keep Trbojevic on a multi-year deal.
