Visit to Drizzle Park

First Grader
Today was my first visit to Drizzle Park, where I watched Manly get belted by the Drizzle.

I must say that it is an impressive stadium to watch footy and the amenities are first class there. The price of a bottle of water was a staggering $6.60 which is bloody ridiculous!!

The live in a bubble down there, celebrating their illegal win from 2007, they are dead set in denial about their wrong doing. Seeing Scam Smith play is an interesting experience, to be honest he toyed with us today. I dont like the guy one bit but he is by far the most intelligent number 9 I have ever seen. The try he make for Cronk after noticing Tommy Turbo out of position was a brilliant bit of play.

Manly were overawed in a big way today. For 50 minutes I thought they did ok but they faded badly.

I wish we had a stadium of that quality and it really spells out as a club how far we are behind the one team towns and the stadiums they have.

It was a humbling experience leaving that place after being thumped like that but for all the doom and gloom you see a team learning some painful lessons that in a couple of years will make them a very good side.

It's one of the best stadiums to watch sport and you can get full strength beer at football games, not sure about rugby league though.
Water price fking ridiculous and so was lineup to get in today.
Smith is one of the best players I have ever seen.
Storm fans are d-bags but still better then dogs/Parra

I was there , being a local Melbourne Manly supporter. Through various circumstances this was only the second Manly game in 25 years I have so really didn't worry too much about the score . I loved being amoung the Manly supporters there in the away corner. Felt like a slice of Brookvale . I told my sons who came with me that although the staduim is great it lacks that suburban atmosphere that places like Brookvale has and they used to have at places like Princes Park down here. You guys up there are lucky to be able to go to Brookie every other week .

I talked with a few Drizzlers in the jammed tram on the way up the hill and some of the more observant ones do admit in hushed tones these facts
- government built stadium
Handed to this club on a platter
- unlimited News Ltd funding over the years
- virtual priority picks over QLD talent
- Rub of the green with the wrestle tactics with refs
- and yes. Only 2 legitimate titles with all that help

Don't worry , we have a real Club with a real unique culture . That can't be manufactured . And yes the only other game I have seen down here was in 2011 , the year we won the comp . So that's an omen

That's why I love brookie better than any stadium in the world, it's the atmosphere those grounds build as opposed to a ANZ filled with a whopping 8,000 people

Ahh, you mention Princess Park, as an old Blues fan that warms my heart.

Your observations are spot on, the leg up the Drizzle got from their inception is what the other clubs can seriously envy. Remember the Drizzle were a present for Ribot from News Filth for what he did in the super league conflict. They are in a bubble down there, totally in denial about their mistakes and Bellyache uses a siege mentality that is reminiscent of the famous Alex Ferguson in his pomp. They are a Queensland team based in Melbourne and they have hit the jackpot with a spine that has last a decade and has ensured that they never miss the finals. I heard Scam Smith yesterday that one of the secrets of their success is that a player becomes a better person when they have spend time at this club. You can't ignore their success and their audacity and arrogance. In the 70s, Manly was just like that, the envy of the league.

Manly has a rich culture and even in the down times, you have the confidence that we will fight our way back and be back up there where we belong. I think the lesson we got yesterday will be a great education for the younger boys about what you truly have to do to be successful. I have supported Manly for 40 years now and seen lots of highs in that time. I have faith that we will be back there soon. Yesterday was a reality check of how far we have to go. We have two amazing brothers who will lead out team moving forward and all we need to do is get players in who fit our culture and we will be back!!!
