From our perspective yes it was bad. But back then, if Kerry Packer, arguably the richest man in the country, wanted to pay you a small fortune for your league playing talents which was a lot more than he was already getting, regardless would you turn it down? Bozo wasn't getting any younger. Like Arko back then, I can't blame him.

At least he never took them to a premiership. GF yes, but no title.

Especially with World Series Cricket in particular . Luring Bob Fulton over to the Roosters was no exception also . Pretty sure that Packer for whatever reason also was prepared to help bank roll both Wally Lewis and Gene Miles to Manly in late 1986 until the Q R L intervened [ may not have presented the best image for Manly with their then legitimate Silvertails tag] and pleasing that Manly still won in 1987 irrespective ] Money talked then and in most instances always will .
