We will be better for it

Noone likes losing, especially to Parramatta, but there are lots of positives to take out of tonight.

1. Our defence is the real thing, even without BK and Watmough.

2. We competed for the whole 80 mins, though our start was a little flat. We never looked outclassed or out of our depth. With luck, experience and a few bounces we could have sneaked a draw or win.

3. We are a younger side who is still learning to compete in the close games away - experience gained in the night conditions is valuable. We are learning. It was a high quality game - our error rate was good but silly penalties cost us at the back of both halves. A little patience is needed.

4. Des will be able to look at the game with the team. It was there to be taken and the analysis/close look at the game may assist us later in the tight ones. Patience and composure will develop. You only learn how to handle pressure games by playing pressure games.

5. Our side has guts and won't put up the white flag.

6. The Manly fans are back. The only NE game I ever went to was at Parra and there was hardly a maroon jersey in the place. There was a good sprinkling of Manly supporters there! A good sign.
