Ordinarily I'd support our Captain too.
But not now, he wants out, and I reckon we have seen a negative impact on the playing group since his night of media tartness.
His own game, has gone down the toilet since.
Something is killing our season, it's starts with $ and ends in Chaser Evans.
It would be interest if he was booted to reserve grade, to see if the rest of this team find a new found ability to fight for one another.
DCE has never brought us into the Top 4 without Foran. He has only brought us to finals without an organising five-eighth twice (2019 & 2024). We have had a continuous symptom of massive leads being conceded seemingly out of nowhere, which started appearing again in 2023 with the Cronulla win. Keeping leads is DCE's responsibility. Most teams only suffer comebacks like the Knights' one, occasionally. It has occured to us probably seven times in the past two years, with good packs, and with terrible packs.
There is a comment that often comes from commentators over the past few years. "When Manly get one, they immediately want another". Instead of setting the tone, punishing the opposition, and managing leads, we are well known to try and keep throwing crap against the wall for better or for worse. This is solely on DCE - Coaches cannot actively control whether we are leading or losing in a game.
IMO, a lot of the club's inherent flaws have been corrected in the last few years... Which has showed what is actually dragging us down. I think we should've been a Top 4 team last year, and we would've been with some better game management, and maintaining of those leads.

Coach and Captain don't seem to be on the same page.
One already half out the door.
To determine if the other needs to follow, I think the coach needs to start selecting players who want to play for him. Reputation and Captaincy only matters when it benefits the team.
There has been zero to support the turtle is a positive influence on this team since the night he hit the tv camera not wearing the Manly teams polo.

Isn’t it up to the captain to motivate the team on the field and execute the strategy?
