http://www.sbs.com.au/programs/whats-the-catch
"What's the Catch? Matthew Evans discovers the shocking truth about Australia’s seafood and reveals what we should be eating and why. Premieres 8.30pm Thursday 30 October on SBS ONE."
Episode 1: "Matthew shows the devastating impact of our insatiable demand for prawns and launches a campaign to help us all be part of the solution to save our seafood."
---
Geeeeeeeeez.
I've never liked Vannamei prawns (they just taste a bit off, artificial), knowing they are farmed in Thailand but not knowing exactly how. Until now.
That's disgraceful.
Brutal sea-bottom dragging trawlers scraping anything and everything from the sea floor, resulting in around 30% max of the catch saleable as it is, the rest called "trash fish" - minced protein food primarily for the farmed prawns.
Sickening.
