[/quote]  This was sweet revenge for 1988 where we were favourites and lost, though they'd had to play Penrif in a play-off on the Tuesday night.

In 1988 we suffered the ignomity of Freeman racing in a try off a scrum - might have been a tight head too.

i doubt we were underdogs.
We'd already beaten them twice that year, plus the tigers had played a game mid week vs newcastle to secure 5th place........3 games in 7 days.....surely they werent expected to win.

From memory it would have to be the 1982 major semi against Parra, I think Parra were minor premiers and won the year before, I think we won 22-0 to go straight to the Grand Final

I'm with you on this one. Parra won in 81 and were minor premiers in 82 by 8 points. Manly (2nd) beat Norths (3rd) by 25-5 or something, meaning when we played Parra the next week in the major semi we must have been underdogs. Manly flogged Parra at Brookie a couple of months earlier 30-10 or thereabouts, so maybe we weren't underdogs for that major semi. Either way, it still annoys me we didn't win the comp in 81 or 82.

That 1990 game was a 4th (Manly) v 5th (Tigers) play off. No doubt we weren't the popular pick (when are we?!!) with most RL fans, but  I don't think we were underdogs.
