Wine lover's guide

The word is that the screw tops have the same potential for cellaring as the cork tops and no chance of the wine getting corked.

We won't know for ten years I guess. The jury still seems to be out on the importance of oxygen in the ageing process.

Put down the Bin 128, 407 and better. KH is for sloshing now. I still have a couple of 407 1990s and drinking very nicely. 128 runs well for about 8 yrs. 707 probably 15 to 20.

A good, drinkable bargain for the Christmas period:

The De Bortoli Sacred Hill range. If you shop wisely you can get it for $5 a bottle.

The good thing about it is that it will do for those wine dummy relatives that don't know Grange from cask. The bottle will impress them, it tastes passably reasonable and doesn't break the bank.
