Plenty to be concerned about. Trump's political tactics have back fired and he has pushed the 3 dangerous countries together (North Korea, China and Russia) whilst he has damaged the relationships with his country's trading partners. Scary times ahead.

Over recent years a few Silvertails, sufficiently bored or pissed off enough by Manly's mediocre seasons to have ventured into the General discussion forum, will know I've been sounding the alarm about the rise of far right movements here and abroad and the prospect of fascist regimes.

A couple of people vehemently howled down those warnings of course, but we haven't heard much from them lately.

Spotted this article this morning, it's quite short and makes a few clear points about why Australia is also subject to this shift.

What the article omits to mention is that fascist movements come to the fore when capitalism is under great stress, but that possibly doesn't need much elaboration.

As for Third World War, may not even be fought so much between countries as within countries?

Well I guess when we have 10% of the world's population controlling 90% of the wealth it's fairly clear something has to give.

Funny, I thought global socialist/Marxism was on the rise, aiming to destroy western civilisation as a precursor to the new world order. And good riddance too. What did western civilisation ever do for the world?

We’d be just about there too if it wasn’t for that pesky Trump and those uneducated, ill informed yokels who keep voting for him. Still, just a momentary blip on the long march to the socialist utopia. Good times. Unfortunately I can’t see the 10%/90% dynamic changing too much - the proles will still need to be kept under control by the elites after all. I for one will definitely love big brother. Perhaps I can get a job at the ministry of truth (previously “CNN”).
