Young Forwards - Do we have any?

I see virtually every NRL club having young players coming thru and playing first grade.
Ola is the only young player I recall coming thru the ranks to play with Manly.

Do we have any young gun forwards coming thru to play first grade in the next 12 - 24 months?

There are some major demographic problems with bringing up junior middles on the Beaches. There's a reason we went west, and that imploded because of other reasons.

I was a big advocate for us to have a footprint in the west, but is what it it is. If we are relying on northern beaches products we are in trouble in my opinion. The participation and quality isn't there compared to other regions. Well not in the quantities needed. This is why we need to be proactive in identifying young talent and getting them in, wherever they are from. Target the warriors stocks for starters.

Nothing. except we have bought all the Temu Tiger players. Spoony & Mestrov must have got confused about buying players from the bottom club and the top club.

Preston is a roosters junior, never played any kind of game for manly

Preston played all his junior rugby league for the Belrose Eagles.

You don't get much more Manly than that.
For reasons unknown, he was unwanted by Manly so signed to play Jersey Flegg for the Roosters.

I guess you think Sam Verills is a Roosters junior as well. Another Manly junior they didn't want.

Schuster looked happy in the sheds after Souths recent win. He may yet come good. The complaint I am making is around the narrative that Spoon wanted more experienced players. How he trumpeted our old man army signings as though they were really positive at the time.

You were making sense up to the point when you referenced Schuster.

The point I was trying to make was Spoon signed old men because in his words he wanted to add more experience to the pack. Yet the main guys who might benefit from such signings had all been let go. We have very few young guys left.

Ola didn’t come through the ranks. He was a pure fluke.

We don’t have any young forwards because the brains trust decided we were in a premiership window, so threw all our eggs into that basket. If that window ever existed it is closing very, very fast, which will leave us with one champion player on his last legs, and a rag tag bunch of plodders and journeymen, until such time as Walsh and large come of age. Good times.

Put a fork in us were cooked. We aren't making the 8 ....... We will finish between 10th and 13th. About where are squad deserves to finish. The DCE saga hasn't helped and has derailed the season.
