Young Forwards - Do we have any?

Is he the young bloke behind API?
Yep, some good young hookers around atm.

Pattie would be my pick with any but he just re-signed.

We also have young Zaidas and even younger Large so pending our faith 1 more year may be the play.

Yeah, I thought Zaidas was showing some promise in the earlier games at Brookie. He's a solid build and a bit of aggro about him. Not sure how he's been playing lately though.

And yep agree, hopefully Simpkin can be a solid gap filler until one of them steps up.

Preston currently on $350k at doggies & is borderline a rep level player. Was a little bit of talk on 360 that dogs have spent all their cap space on Thompson + Galvin for the future which is why they are already offloading Mahoney. How long is he going to stay there on that price before agitating for an upgrade or release? Also got Max King on $400k who is about to make his origin debut & surely going to want a upgrade.

Id certainly be sniffing around that squad, I’m sure there at least a few that would feel Gus & Co are not showing any loyalty to their teammates. I’ve never heard of a team axing their halfback & shopping their hooker around while leading the competition. I can understand they aren’t ‘owed’ any loyalty but it would have to p*ss you off seeing that happen to your good friends when you’ve put the hard work in together for years & are currently 2nd favourites to win the comp this season. I’m hoping this mid season drama can de-rail their season.

Anyways it’s wishful thinking but if Preston’s family really did/do want him to wear this jersey I’d keep close tabs on this situation as he should be on double his current contract. I’m sure they would have a few good young props as well that drop down the pecking order when Thompson arrives.

Dunno, maybe YOU should ask THEM.
You're approaching immortal status. Mere centimetres away from seizing the crown of best ever!I Never thought it could happen And on a Manly supporter site of all places.

"Many old blokes" and their hooker sons. Brilliant!

Do you have any good fishing tales champ?

Preaton would be a dream.

Problem is Preston is signed till the end of 27.

On a contract that is very beneficial to the Dogs cap.

Can't see why they'd release unless he really kicked stones but not sure he is the type

Yes he'd be ideal. I doubt they'll let him go as he is discussed as a future captain.

Definitely more of a dream than reality, just couldn’t see his management not kicking up a stink if he doesn’t get an upgrade. With Finau Latu & Thompson joining next season there will have to be a couple young players looking to get a better opportunity. Hopoi, Todd, Underhill all look promising

Preston would be a priority for them. They’d release other guys way before him.

Max King would be a nice replacement for Jake.

And yet I didn’t say any of them did go on to play grade, I said many local juniors didn’t want to play for Manly because of the Fulton factor.

I then stated that over the years, I’ve heard from many blokes who’s sons were gun hookers (their opinions, not mine) yet wouldn’t dream of encouraging them to try out for Manly because they didn’t like Bob Fulton.

Do you understand yet, or are you going to accuse me of bull****ting again? Which is laughable, given your history & multiple personality syndrome on here 😂
From memory the Vautin v Fulton blow up was based on similar issues I.e. Bozo kept picking his fairly ordinary son to sit in the bench at the expense of better more useful players. This was talked about post GF loss in 97. In an era where no one carried a sub hooker, we were a player short with Scott taking up space.

Aaah the "many old blokes and their gun hooker sons."

Surely this has to be one of Silvertails best bullshiit tales. It gets me laughing from the guts every time I consider it. I don't think it will ever grow old. Classic @47MVEagle

If shoe was on the other foot. Gus would absolutely be opening discussions with his manager and planting seeds on his extra worth given how insular is the peninsula.

I think we need to start thinking about how much more a home grown Manly mongrel, wearing a Manly jersey may be worth specifically to Manly, sadly nice guys like Jake finish last. Jake deserves a premiership but it seems a stretch to far.

I am really getting frustrated and ultimately depressed about Manly and their plans for future success.

I am watching the Roosters with a bunch of young players being supported by some older experienced players.
Their future looks great.

I then look at Manly - we had some great juniors and sold them to the tigers, Canberra and Dragons and buy schiit players like Brooks and old washed up slow forwards.

How are we building to the future with such a short term money ball approach to our club.

Hey, Mestrov - PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR PLAN.

Hey, Mestrov - PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR PLAN.

Meeting KPIs in the Penn era has been a millstone around the neck of every coach.

How do you invest in youth when you seemingly need instant success to keep your job every other year.

Robbo, Ricky, Bellamy, Brad Arthur previously, etc, have had this luxury.
Coaches of the Dragons, Tigers, us, etc....not so much.

Even Holbrook had an extended run, and was able to develop a good group at the graveyard of sport on the Gold Coast.

The roosters have invested millions into their programme for their juniors and it will pay off …but like all sport you want to be the best you need cash and lots of it

Ciraldo and Seibold have both been coaching their clubs for exactly the same amount of time.
What is the difference?

Do you think Penn does not want success?

Mentioning the other coaches imo is a total cop-out. Holbrook had 4 years.
What will Seibold provide in his 4th year?
Personally, I see zero forward planning. Just buy short term money ball players which is a recipe for failure if one is not invested or planning for the future.

Please tell me, what is Seibold and Mestrov doing to ensure Manly has success now and into the future?

Throw in a ageing dce, a slowing jake and injury prone tom it was throw all eggs in one basket for a season or 2 of what seemed a hail mary way to win a premiership

I'm not sure you actually read what I wrote.
