Game Day: Dragons V Manly [Round 26, 2025]

Game Day: Dragons V Manly [Round 26, 2025]

Dragons are ripe for a flogging, we need to start converting these chances...

    Sack Seibold Immediately

I could but I won't... If he gets released halfway through next year we would end up with a caretaker coach... and caretaker coaches rarely become full-time NRL head coaches of note. So we wouldn't learn anything about who should be the next full time coach.

    Sack Seibold Immediately

Stats can make for interesting conclusions if taken in isolation. Ivan Cleary had a win ratio of 47% from the 319 NRL games he coached before 2020... a lower win rate than Seibold has currently. Then he won 78% of all games since, taking the Panthers to a Grand final, followed by 4 premierships...

    NSW Cup 2025

To be clear I'm not saying he shouldn't debut as a 19 year old... I'm saying that it doesn't seem smart to debut him this season. He will still be 19 years and 6 months old when the 2026 season starts, except with an NRL pre-season under his belt. I'm sure the club is planning on giving him...

    NSW Cup 2025

It isn't just about ability... There would be an element of 'duty of care' that needs to be considered as well. As a forward they have to be physically and mentally ready to run into 300+ kilograms of hardened NRL footballers over 10 times a match, and tackle 100+ kg ball runners, 25+ weekends...

    2026 recruitment & retention

I am not sure that Saab would have re-signed here until the end of 2029 on such a modest salary for a starting NRL winger.

    NSW Cup 2025

Hart has only just turned 19... There is no benefit to throwing him in the deep end at this point of the season. Having 18-19 year old NRL halves and backs is one thing, but they have to be a physical freak to hit the ground running as an NRL forward at that age.

How many wins to make the 8?

Not sure... The Rabbitohs just won by 40 and the Roosters just lost by 20. Hard to know which version of the Roosters will turn up...

All NRL Games [Round 25, 2025]

Not a unique problem, it happens in pretty much every game. Some venues worse than others (in music choice as well). Sure the crowd expect to see and hear a show for the price of admission, but it can be a bit much...

    Post-Game Discussion Manly V Dolphins [Round 25, 2025]

Speaking of stats, that game had the 8th highest points total in NSWRL/ARL/NRL history.

Luke Brooks - the plate is hot

Just from observation/opinion, if DCE is the sole playmaker, the opposition pressure him whenever possible and then his game falters. So this really drove the need to have another solid playmaking 5/8 next to him. I don't know if summation is believed or accepted within the club but it might...

    2026 recruitment & retention

There are some comparatively average players that have won premierships this decade, this gets forgotten pretty quickly... The whole being greater than the sum of the parts and all.

    2026 recruitment & retention

He's a fullback and at the Raiders he was behind a soon-to-depart 34 year old Jordan Rapana (and next to a stacked forward pack). Here he was still behind Tom T with Lehi as a backup. He signed for the Raiders as a utility but it was a much shorter route to a starting fullback role.

All NRL Games [Round 25, 2025]

It is worth pointing out that the Raiders have had 1 good year followed by a handful of poor years (including a rebuild) for Ricky Stuart's entire tenure as coach. But their owners seem happy to continue extending his contract even though he has missed the finals 50% of the time. In my opinion...

All NRL Games [Round 25, 2025]

If the club dropped the pretense that we are anywhere near a premiership then maybe we could invest a bit more and not just try and fill gaps. But it has to come from the top down.

All NRL Games [Round 25, 2025]

The Raiders seem to spend their salary cap money in their forwards as their first priority. Over time we've ended up in a position where it's our last priority. That, or we just have it invested in the wrong players.

    Tom and Jake

Respectfully, do you have a problem with the much more incendiary criticism that gets routinely gets directed at the club, coach, and 28 other players (most of whom get paid much less)... or is it only an issue when Jake and Tom get criticised? Some people go too far. But this club is about to...

    Get Cleary

We were dead last on the ladder until Round 17 that year (July 5, 2015). The club announced Toovey was leaving on July 28 (it would have been known internally for a while that he was going). A few of the players had clearly checked out that season, it was clear that the situation was...
