I reckon there would be a similarly themed thread on the 'Riff website after it was reported they will pay Merin $800,000 next season!
I thought Sydney housing was over-inflated. Player salaries are out of control at the moment. Then again, so too are salaries for the bloated NRL officialdom.

I think Penrith are okay. They actually have local juniors in their ranks, which balances things out. The Bulldogs is one of the main clubs I am wary about. They don't produce many players at all from their junior ranks.

Okay so adding up all the big money players at eels. Looks like if they want to keep all there other players, there looking at 230 k each hahaha way to go eels

Wasn't it said on here that Manly was paying $3000,000 of Choc's contrast this season?
The 300k is the backended bonuses, the one Choc and the Media refer to as 'pay cuts to stay with mates'. He would also be getting the 600k from Parra this year.

I am not sure that is correct...

SALARY CAP BREAKDOWN
NRL PAYMENTS FOR THE TOP 25
$5.5 million - Basic payments for the Top 25 players including Sponsor Servicing Allowance ($5.3m) which is automatically given to all clubs to compensate players for club sponsorship activities including appearances and endorsements.
Long Serving Player Allowance ($200K) for eligible players who have played eight continuous years of grade football with that club including Holden Cup and NSW Cup.

+ $231,250 - Paid by the NRL to the RLPA towards players' Retirement Account Contribution.

+ $100,000 - Paid by the NRL to the RLPA towards their administration funding.

*Payments under the actual salary cap total $5.50 million paid directly by clubs across the Top 25 players. The additional $331,250 paid into the RLPA Retirement and Administration Fund Contribution is not defined as a salary cap payment.

What players can earn outside the salary cap:$600,000 - Marquee Player Allowance - any or all of the Top 25 players at each club can share in payments made by club sponsors seeking to use a player's intellectual property. These may be guaranteed in the playing contract by clubs.
$100,000 - Motor Vehicle Allowance – a maximum amount of five motor vehicles may be provided to players in the Top 25 outside of the salary cap. (Valued at $20,000 each).

Unlimited - Players can earn unlimited amounts from corporate sponsors who are not associated with the club and who do not use the game's intellectual property (no club logos, jerseys or emblems) provided these are pre-approved. These agreements may not be negotiated by the club as an incentive for a player to sign a contract, nor can they be guaranteed by the club.

Unlimited - Tertiary education fees, approved traineeships, medical insurance costs, relocation/temporary accommodation costs are not included in the cap but must be approved.

Payments for players outside Top 25
$440,000 - Cap for all players outside of the top 25 who compete in the Telstra Premiership.

Foz has a chronic hamstring problem now, so imagine how much game time he will have in 2 years let alone 4.

Choc stays down after every tackle, plus he has that dodgy ankle/knee so another expensive benchwarmer by years end.

Manly is in the driving seat now as far as recruitment goes. Cashed up and waiting to pounce >:)
And his shoulders are not good either. He habit of taking the ball to the line and getting smashed most times for it will ensure that his football career is short lived and he will have medical problems when he retires.

Would you guys pay 1.2 million for Josh Reynolds? Because he is in the Kieran Foran mould - average ability with a lot of heart.

Are Foran & DCE aware that Lyon, Matai, Glenn & Brett Stewart aren't going with them in '16?
My point being, tho' DCE & Foran are the goods, having the above players running off them over the years, have really made these kids shine all the more.

Someone else finally says it! haha. But let me ask this question:

30 seconds to go on the clock, manly down by 2. Who do you pass it to?
DCE or Foran. DCE everyday of the week for me

Guys do you think Sandow would be in consideration on a short term deal.
I would sign him for 1-2 years max.
Can't see how the Eels could keep him.
sandow only performs when he is due for a contract renewal, so unless you can sign him on a match to match basis you would be wasting your money
