2017 will be a very interesting year, and we all should look at it that way.

It's clear we aren't going after big name players until the Brett/Steve money is washed out, so buy a bunch of potentials , in the hope a few of them kick on.

Some will, some won't and in the cut and thrust of modern day footy if they don't they are shipped out faster than Usain Bolt.

Loads and loads of potential in those we have signed , I don't know about you but I'm excited to see how it pans out.

All looks good on paper again for the 2017 season
New signings and players moved on
Fairly the same pattern as with the 2016 season
With lessons learnt from 2016 with players gained more experience The coach should have learnt some hard ones
So with less injuries I can hope for a better season anything is possible with an injury free to key personnel

Yep... Thought that last season as well..
So did I fellow Sea eagle brother and I can empathize your frustrations and disappointment , but we should all have faith in our proud and proven club history of success .
Enjoy the festive season and look forward to more celebration in 2017 as we cheer our mighty Sea eagles in to the finals

Well said feathered fried and may I add the 5/8 position is covered by a specialist and this will be essential for our team to build cohesion

Imagine how members on this website would have reacted if at the start of 2015 someone had dared to predict that for the 2017 season we would have the top three NRL prop prospects - ie AFB from Dragons, Perrett from Dogs and Meehan from the Roosters, Souths top back prospect Walker, the Dogs best young backrower Lane, the Tigers young gun half/backrower Sironen, the Roosters top halves prospect Hastings, the NSW Under 20 2016 centre Kelly along with Jake, Tom and young Hoppa. Add in the Knights top tryscorer and NSW and Australia rep Uate.
They would have been laughed off this site as there would be no way you could sign all that talent under the cap unless you were the Broncos.
Well that is where we are for 2017. They have all had chequered histories the last 2 seasons (not including Tom and Jake who have started to show their potential and are signed long term) but they all have undoubted talent. If even half of them can reach their potential we are in for a big year.
Credit where credit is due to Baz/ Bozo if this happens.
Another propaganda update from Peters/Fulton
Perrett one of the three best young props in the game. Not likely Let go by roosters and dogs
Young gun Sironen? Reserve grader at tigers
Lane - released by Dogs and Warriors
Hastings - no NRL or ESL team would touch this bloke except us as Barrett used to be his neighbour
Uate has been crap for years Living on past performances

The team has no leaders to guide the young blokes

Man, you are a very very very hard man to please. I can't recall a single post where you have been even mildly optimistic.

Perrett 22 years old , Big and powerful ,194cm, 113 kg. Junior Kangaroo and all the Pessimists on here are saying a 22 year old prop with size and ability is over the hill
Sironen 23 years old, 195cm, 104kg, Represented city origin at just 20 years of age . Strong and skillful utility who can cover 5\8 lock and s/row and all the Pessimists on here are saying that at 23 years of age he is over the hill
Lane 22 Years of age Giant , 198cm, 115kg was devastating and unstoppable in his debut season with the Dogs before he had a fall out with Hasler and ended up far away from his family in NZ . All the pessimists on here have also written another young player with enormous ability at at just 22 years of age
Hastings 20 years of age can cover 5/8 , half and hooker as well as being a 83% goal kicker . At a young age he showed a lot of promise at NRL level but like most 20 year olds he has issues that can be sorted out but all the pessimists on here have written him off at just 20 years of age
Uate the leading try scorer for the Knights and represented at all levels had become stale and uninspired at the toxic Knights club needs a fresh start at a new club to unleash his proven skills but the pessimists on here are blinded by their negativity and can not see this.
Is your Glass half empty or half full ?
Cheers

I remember people claiming Michael Robertson, David Williams and Chris Hicks were rejects and rubbish - they turned out alright in my book. A change of environment and the right people behind you can do wonders for people with talent. These guys have talent, it's getting the stuff upstairs right that will see them become stars, if not, wash-ups.

Robbo would be a very strong contender for a greatest ever Manly team. Not the fastest winger but definitely one of the best. Very very underrated.

Man you need to harden up,stop being so negative manly fans aren't like you ,be proud of who we are,we may have had a few lean couple of years ,but. Mark my words champion, we will be back and thats a certain we won't go away,we are manly the greatest team ever,I'll garantee that within a couple of years we will be champions again, remember every 10 years we win comps.

The recruitment has been good imo anyway. Cheap young players with potential and motivation. Not angels but it's up to the club to manage that.

The challenge once again will be getting a bunch of strangers to gel into a cohesive unit. If Barrett can pull that off then he does indeed have some serious coaching ability.

People flat out wanted no part of Orford because they were adamant Monaghan was better! Haters gonna hate (then pretend they never did when we win)

I always think if your filling your Glass and stop it's 1/2 full and of if your emptying your Glass it's 1/2 empty
We are on the rise so I see our glass 1/2 full with potential to fill it

And the key point to all that, is that we only realistically need 2 of them to kick on and reach their potential for the whole exercise to have been successful.

Im very happy with the signings. We paid overs for Myles and Brown and we are already looking at moving brown along, and any other player that hasn't delivered or will add to the team moving forward. We have bought and released a lot in the past few years trying to build a side that is going to be competitive and win more titles. Manly have been very successful over the past decade but with most of those players now retired and having missed the finals the past 2 seasons that is not acceptable and we have been ruthless in moving players along but i like the direction the club is heading.

We have been guilty in the past of buying over the hill players and for overs. We have now gone out and bought a very young promising side with plenty of talent. They haven't down anything massive with theie futures yet but they are all around 22 years of age and we have not paid much for these player's which is huge! We are still getting the cap sorted so we can make a play in 2017 for 2018 signings.

If Meehan, Lane, Siro, Kelly, Tom wright, AFB, Perret, Hastings etc perform to go with DCE, Turbos, Walker, Taupau etc and cash to go after another rep player or two we are looking good.

We need to be successful though next year and show we have that winning culture and that Barrett can coach to help attract other players to come and be part of it.

I see top 8 again next year if we stay healthy and fit. A much better draw so with some luck with injuries we shoukd be in the mix. Really want some of these young players to put their hand up and have a break out year
