No. As I've said quite a few times, I think it will be a similar season to last. We'll be in the bottom 4-5 teams, so 12th-16th.

I'd be surprised if we get a win in the first 4-5 games to he honest. Talent wins games. We lack it. We are injured on top of that.

It's realism @BOZO . Unsure why you think Des just makes it all better and everything roses.

I keep saying, it's a building process. Given our backline, incepid centres, a struggling 5/8 it won't be much better than last year.

My hopes for this season, is a rebuild in culture. A new focus from the playing group. I want a stronger defensive display (and we haven't seen that in either trial). Just small steps. Some players develop. I hope Walker comes back, and progresses (and we extend him). I hope we get a few signings, and lose some of the second / third tier players.

Get that, and I'll be happy.

I agree with you on the small steps and also believe that Des is a giant leap to the inexperienced rookie and incompetent quitter of a coach we had last season
Anyway mate I believe that our young backs will deliver and make all of us Manly fans happier than we were last season

I wonder if the green arrow is lowest paid player. Top 30 can change if you up someone else to the top 30 highest paid can't it.

I believe It doesn’t have to be the top highest 30 paid as long as the top 30 are under the cap and all 30 are at least minimum wage. In many instances it would be but it’s not essential.Example might be where a higher paid player from year before is going like a total busted, can’t be offloaded and a club thinks a lower paid player should take his place.As long as this doesn’t bust a lower tier cap I think it’s ok.

They are big wraps from a senior player. Good interview by the little man. Best athlete he’s seen in a long time is Reuben ....can’t get more promising than that .Fingers crossed these boys make it

I have put up this iteration before buddy and been shot down by people saying the "top 30" are the 30 highest paid players.

We still don't know which iteration is correct...or even if there IS an ""NRL rules correct" one.

I''m ok with that concept but not sure Waddle is ready for an 80 min FG gig yet.

As long as we get out there and have a red hot crack each week I'll be happy and who knows what will happen. When Des came back he came back to a struggling club with financial trouble, so I don't think he was just going to turn up coach us to a top 4 in his first season . He will have a cleanout at the end of the year and with plenty of cash will bring in the right players to fill the gaps and get us back near the top . As long as we have a crack I'll be happy.

Wouldn’t it be great if the NRL published the salary cap rules on its website? While I am a bit of a geek (geeks are cooler than nerds fyi), I wouldn’t be alone in reading through them so that I could understand how it all works.

So I read that as the salary cap is the top 30 highest paid players at the club. Why else would we have had Nate Myles on our books in the top 30 squad last year if it isn't your top 30 highest paid players. We would have just knocked him back to Blacktown and filled his spot with someone like Amone on minimum wage

With no Walker concerned like most, without Turbo very nervous.

I think we will have more pace and structure with a better drilled side, players playing in position plus a 5/8, whether that makes up for losing Walker and inexperienced players I am not sure.

I wouldn’t be the house on us until Turbo gets back out it to you that way.

The basic salary cap rules are probably pretty simple, it's the huge hole that the NRL have dug for themselves called TPA's that is the issue. Those three letters undo all that the salary cap is designed to achieve.
