Looking at the rosters in detail I’m thinking it will pan out much the same at top as last year . Roosters Souths Sharks Melbourne,Penrith look very strong with great depth as well and Dragons Brisbane probably fill a top eight spot.Likely improvers maybe Tigers, Knights and possibly Titans as those three have recruited very well. As usual top 4 side will win it.Not convinced about Cowboys improving as much as people think but their forward pack looks dominant and should ensure a slightly better showing, but Barba and Bolton wont help.
Looks like the gap netween the top and bottom sides is getting wider on paper.Dogs , ourselves, Raiders ,Eels don’t seem to have improved at all roster wise while the Warriors look weaker and probably join them in terms of quality. Of course new stars are always thrown up but across the board the bottom sides from last year look to be in for a tough fight again.
Roosters are the least effected premiers in years. Lose Ferguson and Napa , gain Creighton and Morris. The good old sombrero.
Of course injuries, the huge merry go round movement in quality coaching staff over the offseason and no doubt some more player atrocities will effect what looks likely on paper
Overall to me there seems to be a bigger disparity than usual from top to bottom in quality which can’t be a good sign for the comp. Until they address this 3rd party stuff I think that trend continues. The salary cap is being slowly made redundant by these deals.
