So I wanted to ask a question and didnt know where so thought I may as well get in early and just start an Ashes tour thread.

The question though, are train on squads a thing of the past?

Used to love hearing what players were under consideration etc.

Have I missed it or is it a relic of the past.

Interesting I haven’t heard a thing either, maybe Kevie might be a bit slow off the work

I’d say it’s a relic, but the way players are dropping out of contention, maybe Kevvie has told everyone to train on.

Really looking forward to a new ashes tour - always great to watch back in the day, in the wee small hours.

Shame if so.

Always nice to hear....say if a Bullemor gets asks to train on etc. Nice recognition even if they wont realistically make it.

Not just a Manly thing too, like see other young players at clubs get a call out.

Also from the NRL side of things, its more content and we live in an age of content.

Not much interest in watching these ‘tests’ anymore, even when M-W players are involved.

None in this squad, apart from a wayward local junior.

Is that a first no manly player on a kangaroo tour?
The most recent Kangaroo tours were 1994, 2001 and 2003.

In 2001 there was no Manly team in the NRL and anyway no Nthn Eagle was selected.

In 2003 as well Manly were back in the NRL but no Manly player was chosen. Manly finished 14th out of 15 teams. Looking at the 2003 Manly squad only Steve Menzies may be said to have been in with a chance of selection given he was often in the NSW team 1995 to 2006. NRL 2003 - Manly Warringah Sea Eagles - RLP
