2026 recruitment & retention

Best of luck to Tof. He has been unlucky with injuries. I am on record as saying that every year he prick teases the entire NRL with two or three good games, showing a sight of what could be, before he reverts to frustratingly average and unengaged. But credit to him, I truly felt that this year when we are so hit by injuries he has really stepped forward and made a contribution, and I would have been happy to keep him. We wish him every success.

Was anyone else under the mistaken impression that he was only signed for '25? Didn't realise it was for 2026 as well.

Interesting timing given the Trey Mooney news. Hopefully we are now in the hunt.

Foxsports assessment of Trey Mooney on the weekend in NSW Cup:

Trey Mooney also impressed with a game-high of 170 running metres and 33 tackles — one miss. It was a timely performance given it was reported last week that he has been given permission to talk to rival clubs for next season.

"all our current middles ahead of him"

Don't know much about him ( I'll take your word for it disco) but that effectively makes him the worst middle in the NRL for the simple reason we have the worst pack in the NRL, and they are basically all middles as the recruitnent manager forgot to buy some second rowers.

One to avoid for sure

Looks like it was bad mail from whatever Journo said we had signed the junior kiwi captain Phillip Lavakeiaho. Bunnies have confirmed the signing of the front rower starting next year.

Apparently we are looking at Klemmer. I swear to god if we sign him I give up.
Geez isn't that a double kick in the teeth.

Absolutely not to Klemmer. I just can't fathom a world where we'd not be chasing Mooney but are Klemmer.

That world is called "The Manly Way". We only sign decent NRL players when they're at least five years past their prime.

Looks like the old recruitment strategy is back in:

Step 1. Find the bottom of the NRL player market barrel.
Step 2. Scrape it.

Of course, that's only after we exhaust our first go-to strategy: Ask Isaac Moses if he has any clients that need a job.

Maybe this is why our new recruitment manager, went from being the General Manager of the Roosters, to being just a part-time consultant here, within the space of a few months?

Red flags all over that acquisition IMO.
