A different kind of disappointment

Watching live at the game I thought schuster looked injured again. He had one thigh bandaged up and was obviously not moving well.

Did not know he was one of ours… that is VERY depressing as I reckon he is a ripper…
There’s a few that have got away. Verrels, Preston and quite a few more who were in our system like metcalf, Tom Wright for the wallabies and Jesse Ramien who are killing it in first grade. Not to mention gutho.

Funnily enough the guys we let go for Dylan walker and Marty were gutho and hiku. Hiku played last night for a much better team than us and gutho has killed it for the eels obviously.

Dylan walker and Marty are now also gone to more successful clubs than us (well warriors are more successful this year in walkers case ) while we are still struggling.

I wonder what Scott Penn really thinks when he looks at what a clown show our club has been in terms of the football dept and on field results the last eight years.

And I mean a clown show because we had so much potential as highlighted above.

I believe the Verrills thing has more to do with other issues, rather than the club not recognising his ability.

With Belrose junior Preston, apparently he didn’t perform well in a trial game for the junior rep sides. His family has history at C-B so he wound up there. In saying that, I believe he grew up following Manly and definitely wanted to play for Manly. He is a Fritz von Werra of rugba league - the one who got away.

Watching Luke Metcalf perform yesterday and then watching our #6 at more than double the price. I just shake my head at this place. You're correct @JenEagle. It is a clown show

4-13 against us in penalties and 6 agains. It was completely manipulated rubbish refereeing. If Seibold had any balls he'd be blowing up over that exhibition of organized game manipulation. It started as soon as we got the lead. The NRL is just a complete farce joke.
Jake probably gave away most of those six agains by himself.

Surely Keppie is injured?

I think you are being unkind to clowns. Most clowns are vastly more competent and professional than what our management and owners have dished up through the decade of disappointment.

Verills was always behind manase and other western suburbs imports and I think that soured the relationship. Manly favouring imports over their own young players through that Fulton period and through the junior programs was a bit of a shame.

Evidence which flies in the face of what Fulton Sr and Jr claimed would happen after the last (and ill-fated) Fulton intervention gathered pace in 2015/16. They claimed back then that there would be a focus on local talent.

Clint Gutherson, Sam Verrills and Matt Preston send a big ‘Cheerio!’

How on earth did the video ref not see it. Incompetent.
It smells rigged don't it, they only showed it once on the TV replay the boot was in the air fractionally above the try line not on it. That was a big turning point in the game...am so over these bad calls that we continually get every weekend.

What about the elbow to Garick, yes it was accidental but isn't even accidental contact to the head or neck supposed to be penalised?
Yes they harp on about recklessness and duty of care. That had to be a penalty at least.

Reactions: Ned
When the Chooks landed Smith (and erroneously believed he was a genuine 9) we should have grabbed Turpin. They won’t let him go now but he would be a big step up on Croker.

Bayley Sironen is off contract this year. He would add a bit more starch to the pack and offer more workload imo. We need Croker to do less tackling and have the middles do more of the work.
So what you’re suggesting is that a Tiger’s ‘reject’ is ok for us so long as a couple of other clubs have ‘rejected’ them after they left the Tigers?!

Drove up from Canberra with me kids for the first time this year, stayed in Blacktown bus to the train station, ferry, uber to the club walked to the ground all dress up face painted flags flying high, spent a ****ttt load of $$$$$ thinking this is a do or die must win for us beautiful day 25dec in front of a packed house standing next to this bunch of cowboys yelling their heads off. What a disappointing day indeed, should have stayed in ACT and watch them smash the Raiders every year. Wonder Y I hardly go up FORTRESS my pimple arss.

Yes. The match was disappointing. Our blokes tried but the 'Boys were too fast and too slick. We were lucky that the score didn't blow out further. If the 'Boys play to their ability they will be a top four team.
Unfortunately, without Turbo, and without The Shoe firing, our attack is limited. We rely on DCE and Froggy to spark something. As good as they are we need greater contributions from others, or a change in the style/makeup of our forwards. The effective forward packs these days have several mobile players. We are top heavy with crash-n-bash forwards.

Yep, I think this has been becoming clear. Lawton could have played that role but has been cruelled with injuries. I scoffed initially when people suggested Parker for second row, but may not be as crazy as I thought, he runs good lines and is a good tackler. Next year maybe, as we'll have Talau as a left centre option. Or maybe Talau is the second rower!
Meanwhile I guess we carry on with land of the giants (and just cross our fingers we dominate possession!)

He's actually not that bad a player. I think his surname has more to do with him getting his start at the Tigers. Mind you Addo-Carr, Harry Grant, Pepenhauzen are ex West Tigers as well, but we seem to only get the dregs.

Our lack of a specialist dummy half for so many years is one of our biggest problems, for some reason the powers that be seem to have decided that its not a necessity to have one, every year I go into the off season hoping there's an announcement to come regarding the addition of a specialist 9 but sadly it never comes, no offence to Froggy and I'm also aware that we have multiple problems but dummy half is the first place I'd be looking to shore up
And it's so obvious for ANYONE apart from Des / Anthony to see it. Frustrating.
