After last night, I think all Dearden has to do tonight is do the basics well and he'll be picked at 7 for the Maroons.

That single try assist he just got shat all over anything DCE did last night.....

True. Lovely ball.
His first 20 were poor though imo, but has come good since.

While leading 12-4, Melbourne really haven't had the ball in attack for the past 20 minutes. In that time the Cows have thrown everything except the kitchen sink at them they only cracked once.

Then as soon as the Storm get down the other end ... they score.

That's the difference.

Personally I think the job is Dearden's to lose. IMO Cherry played himself out of Origin last night, and even if his position didn't hinge on last night, no doubt Slater would have seen how crap his game turned in the 2nd half.....

I also now agree that Father Time is catching DCE fast. When he got run down last night.....lets just say that 12 months ago he was in under the posts

Dearden will take the ball to the line, into the line, his a ballsy little competitor, who values the ball, unlike our superstars one run for 4 meters last night, who does anything to avoid contact including hero plays, trick shots and stupid ill disciplined kicks. Slatter would be a goose to go with Daly over Deardon, his made for the origin contest.

Even if Slater had already made his choice before last night, DCE basically played himself out of Origin with his performance last night.

I mean, he got out-played by Jack fvcking Cogger for crying out loud.

Yep and if our coach had any clue, he’d punt him as well, should of did it the minute he kicked off his media career, blokes gotta go, his no part of our future and is taking the piss with efforts like last night, excluding the donkeys game, his season so far has been very ordinary.

Here is the problem with that right now.....the alternative is Jake Arthur.

Besides that it would be far too messy and would go further to fvcking up our season.

Father time always wins.
Cherry avoiding contact is as obvious as ever these days.

Our season is already fuked old mate, and we have other options, JA is not the answer, I agree.

As impossible as it seems to be right now, we're at least still in with a chance at the Top 8. Right now dropping DCE despite his poor form would probably be the worst thing we could do. I mean, OK he was 💩 last night, but it was just a week ago against the Broncos that he was damn near, if not the Man of the Match.

He can still turn it on. We just need him to get it back to the consistency we know he once had.

What doesn't help is our on / off pack. Last week they dominated Brisbane. Last night in the 2nd half they were dominated and as such both DCE and Brooks were rendered pretty much useless. Without Tent (Paseka for those who don't know), and last night both Taukei'aho and Aloiai, we struggled up front big time. Sips did a good job, but he was a lone Sea Eagle up front (personally I think Seibold stuffed up there. Should have started Jake up front and Jazz at lock 🤷‍♂️ ).

If we can get some consistency in the pack it would go a long way to helping the rest of the team do what we know, or think they're capable of. Next week we're due to get Turbo, Saab, Aloiai and Taukei'aho back which should be a plus even if we do lose Hopoate.

WE are still a chance of our first spoon also.

Starting Bullemore doesn't work either. His best impact is off the bench after 15-20min.

Sadly, yes.

Again, sadly yes. Bull has tried his guts out, I won't say different. But he is more suited to coming off the bench and providing some pace up the middle against tired defences.

I agree, Sips should have started with Jake up front, Jazz at 13, I would have even started Simpkin over Froggy, whom I’m struggling to see a place for in the 17.

Don't be surprised to see Simpkin dropped sometime soon. Seibold has his No.1 hooker back (Froggy) while Jazz can perform the dual roal of bench forward / dummy half.

While Froggy was good last night while he was on, it was mostly his defence because once again it was chalk and cheese the service from dummy half. After 5 years Croker is still only a makeshift dummy half.
