Another typical Many stuff up

I like Waddell as a depth player, he always puts in an honest effort. I just really wish he wasn't our third choice backrower. He's a middle for mine.
Agree he is better as a middle

Worse players than Waddell have won a premiership - and if he was the 17th man in 2008 he would be remembered fondly.

I get the argument about Waddell being a decent depth player, but he's played all but 2 games this year and the only reason he missed those were through suspension. That's someone with a regular place in the 17, not a depth player. He was getting picked before Paseka and Aloiai went down too so that hardly puts him in the 20th-24th player category in the squad. It was the same in 2024 with only an injury and another suspension keeping him out towards the end of that season.

If he was used mainly as a middle off the bench he would probably be judged more fairly but he's predominantly played on the edge when it's clear to everyone he isn't good enough there, and I don't blame him entirely for that given the boneheaded decision not to recruit another backrower this year. But when our forward pack is our obvious weakness and he is the weakest link there, it's not really hard to see why people are frustrated with him continually being in the side while young blokes like Navale can't get a run. Blah blah he is too raw and doesn't have the experience yet, how do you think that is going to change?

Here's a big tip for all "us supporters"..
A team is only as good as the club
When the club is all pulling in the one direction, management is doing its job, making tough calls and smart moves off the field this relays to the team.
The coaching staff are all focused on the team and getting the best out of the players and in turn the players are all onboard, ready and willing to play as a team with purpose and a firm goal of winning.
It has to be a holistic approach that filters through the club!
The storm are successful for this very reason, the Panthers unlocked this over the past 7 seasons.

But I ask you and all supporters this.. for a successful club do the fans (supporters) have an affect?

And im telling you 110% YES.. we are part of the club, its that simple, yes we don't have to agree with every move the club makes or selection the coaching staff makes or even plays a player makes but we as supporters need to do that and support the club. If the fans have that winning mentality and desire for success we have to realise we are part of that chain that leads the players to get onboard. And put in 110% not 90%.

This forum, FB and other social media sites are riddled with negative thinking fans ( and lots of trolls) who actually are not fans but doing a great job at destabilising the fan base which inturn ripples through the club.

Yes winning stops the negativity and everyone wants to be on a winner but fans have to realise we are part of that winning culture, and winning involves us fans.

Players , coaches, management are humans they read posts, they read the press and regardless of what they say the negative stuff affects them all.

We feel the losses but so do the players, the coaches and management.. that's the CLUB

So let's support and get onboard as best we can. Just my opinion
With all due respect, I think a successfully run club creates happy fans, rather than the other way around. Disgruntled fans usually act as a catalyst for (necessary) change - being happy and supportive when a team is losing does no good for anyone. Taken to its logical conclusion, should we all be happy with a wooden spoon? If not, at what point would it be permissible to stop being happy with a run of losses?

Being critical does not make you any less of a fan than someone who is perpetually happy. In fact, it often means you care too much. Just my opinion.

To be honest I laugh when I see these comments , it’s sad but you can’t keep them all.

JWH, what a pity , Manly tried everything but a huge contract from the Rorters gazumped that.

Gutherson , behind Stewart and then Turbo , what was the club to do ???

There are many others who were sitting behind existing players over the years , sad to lose them but what was the club to do??

Latu Fainu, sitting behind existing players, the Dollar Chaser ( who at that stage was thought to be there for 3-4 more years …from that point ….) & Luke Brooks. Along come the Tigers , offer him & his brother big contracts and really what was the club to do ???

It’s not always a “ stuff up”.

Fair points there but re Gutho, to me it always felt like he was moved on in 2015 not long after being extended to 2017, so that a play could be made to get Dylan Walker. For how long he was here and what we got out of him, Dylan Walker’s career at Manly was very wasteful in my eyes

I still can't believe we let Johnny Mayes go ... Manly is *ed, we are * ... bloody idiots running the place ... I could do better because I'm smarter than everybody ...

You too!

Derek Moritz hurt me.

A million years later watching John Harvey as a Rooster saddened me, and the Fred Teasdell became a Bear too.

We won a comp 3 years after Mayes left. We are currently in our 14th year without a premiership, our longest drought since we started being a successful club. But I’m sure if we all think happy thoughts it will translate into more wins.

Gift in a vermin jersey was worst for me… then Fatty in rooters kit and Dale Shearer running out as a donkey…

Probably others I hated but those 3 come immediately to mind…
