He is a joke, carrying on about that make believe tackle in the air, the replay shut the flog up quick

Rabbits was the gold standard. He always highlighted the really great stuff ,"oh, that was special", and called with perfectly modulated enthusiasm. His positivity really grew our love for the game and made us feel good.

The bloke we're stuck with listening to now, picks a team, death rides the other, and points out everything that's wrong with the game. Cannot stand a bar of him. I suspect Cooper Cronk isn't a fan either

The issue with Voss is ego. He is nowhere near the talent he thinks he is; all the greats were gifted with a unique voice but he sounds like a guy you'd meet every day at the local pub. There's nothing distinctive about his vocal timbre. I haven't even started on the content of his speech...

My missus who couldn't give a crap about NRL and never watches games was sitting here tonight listening to this flog, and said " he's really wants the other team to win this commentator doesn't he ". I turned down the sound after that. Made the win much more enjoyable.

Well thanks to your good lady mate. I highlighted the point to about 7 non-Manly supporting mates a few weeks ago as we watched a game together. By the end of the game they were a bit shocked how bad it was, and they were all joking about it. Bring back Justin Hodges I said (the worst commentator of all time - except for Vossy). I didn't want to mention blind Freddy could see it, as Vossy would probably bring up some time the Panthers / Roosters were robbed against Manly when Brad Fittler was playing. Anyhow, as someone mentioned above, it makes you miss Rabbits. Don't know what you've got till it's gone. It makes Gus and Joey a viable option when it's possible, and that's saying something.

In my opinion, he is a fundamentally good commentator, in that he calls the play well and he pronounces the player's names correctly.

The frustrating part is that he makes a deliberate choice to indulge in a lot of hyperbole and supposition. It is unnecessary and entirely avoidable.

Just call the game Vossy!
