There was a big rumour last Feb that all Australia's top sporting codes were rife with corruption, cheating and drugs.

Which was rubbish. It's only NRL, AFL and cricket.

Sydney Rooster Martin Kennedy faces two year ban for illegal drug use: reports

A REPORT has surfaced this morning that Roosters player Martin Kennedy is facing a two-year ban for illegal drug use.

An infraction notice is set to be issued this morning and Kennedy could face a two-year ban, it has been reported on Channel Seven’s Sunrise programme.

The report also claimed that ASADA was in possession of text messages that incriminated Kennedy.

The NRL integrity unit will meet at 9am today after which it is understood the infraction notice will be served.

Should this happen, Kennedy will be stood down with immediate effect and would therefore play no role in his club’s clash with Panthers this weekend, despite beingnamed on the extended bench.

Kennedy rejoined the Roosters this year after an unhappy 12 months at the Broncos where he failed to command a position in the first-grade team.

It is not the first time Kennedy’s name has been associated with the ASADA investigation.

Today’s news follows follows a Daily Telegraph report from 2013 which named Kennedy as one of two players to be “interviewed to discuss their relationship with a central figure in the probe.”
