Attention Penn's...Manly fans say no to Cartwright

The way that Trent Barrett has portrayed Manly is recent days I wonder how many coaches would want to come here to work. If McGuire has already knocked us back how many other coaches have done the same. One thing in Cartwright’s favour is he knows the ability of a lot of players in our squad and he’d be experienced enough to bring out the best in these players. I would however love Toovey to have the job but unfortunately with the setup the way that it is now that won’t happen.

Yeah, I do enjoy living in a vibrant place with some energy and stimulation. Having said that, I do find myself spending more and more time at home away from the chaos. I think that hectic energy allows me to appreciate some space and solitude so much more... It's been a good 20 years now living here, Japan and Korea. I usually suffer reverse culture shock on my trips home each year. lol.

Agree with your sentiments @HK_Eagle - I’d also add, for my two cents’ worth, all of this open, public dysfunction within the club has coincided with a general decline in the quality of the NRL itself, and I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that I wouldn’t be the only person for whom all of that has come along at a time when some ‘life gets in the way’ stuff has also been happening, which has put a new perspective on just how much relative importance footy has to me - a whole lot less than it used to. Some of the ‘life gets in the way’ stuff has led to a conscious decision to invest less time and emotion into things that don’t make me happy, put it that way!

The miasma around the club and NRL in general doesn't give me much hope for the future.

All true ..... and the fans have a lot to answer for as well .... we have a young coach who has stood up to the Penns' and said bring this club up to modern NRL standard ..... and what is our response .... we attack him .....

I have my doubts about TB's coaching ability, but perhaps the TB stand is a good thing for us in the longer term if it stirs some action to start cleaning up the place and getting our act together. But again, I just don't trust our current ownership has any interest in such things and their agenda lies elsewhere.

Cartwright? Better to make a clean break with Barrett's crew, I would think - unless we are only trying to save some money. Which we probably are, because we hired incompetent or shonky staff who have cost us a motza with the salary cap debacle.

Interviews with selected journalists are only going to go so far, if Penn really wants to repair or elevate his standing in the league community now is a good time to let his actions make a statement.

The Barrett situation is untenable but I am concerned the club are going to promote Carty.

Weedler wrote an interesting column about Baz and Carty pissing uphttps://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/on-the-drink-with-mates-barrett-too-close-to-players-for-his-own-good-20180825-p4zzrk.html; I have heard the same thing from other sources. I also heard that Seibold left because he didn't "fit" into this drinking culture that Baz and Carty were allegedly fostering. He wasn't one of the boys...

I also heard that Taupau allegedly didn't like the way Baz had his "crew" of pets amongst the playing group. He basically gave DCE and Trbo's special treatment.

If this is true and proves to be the case then we are not going to turn a new stone and build a strong culture if the same regime is running the football operations.

It sounds like Carty is part of the booze culture that has obviously divided the playing group and resulted in poor attitude and application on the field. We need to clean out the ranks. No to Cartwright and Ferris and their party boy/bullying culture. We need a professional hard head that doesn't care about being mates with the boys.

Does anyone know how to get an online petition happening? I reckon it would get a fair few signatures we could pass on to the Penn's. I reckon the only reason the players want Carty is so they can keep pissing up and run their own show.

@Snake if you recall there was a post where I mentioned Twenty had lost the playing group and I wanted your confirmation. You mentioned the Turbos were very close to Twenty so it was unlikely and see. It looks like my source was close to the money and it obvious there is a camp that supports him and a camp that doesn't.

I will have to catch up with them again and see what more info they can share
