Aaaannnnd manlys allegiance to its own nursery?? Go have a look at some of the young blokes running around for peninsula seagulls and belrose Eagles and tell me where they will now end up! Manly out west doesn't sit well with me but that's just my opinion, like you said it could be a master stroke, I just think we should be focusing more on our area.

I'm sure the powers that be will still cast a watchful eye over any emerging talent on the Peninsular. The alliance with Blacktown means we have potentially increased our nursery significantly.

The thing is though what sort of allegiance is a Blacktown-based junior likely to have towards Manly-Warringah? As opposed to someone who has come through our own juniors?

All I see from this organisation at the moment are knucklebrained ideas about recruitment, retention, promotion, et al. With no clear direction conveyed by them to us, the supporters, about where they want to take the outfit.

The one off-field bright spot is the appointment of a CEO who appears to know a thing or two about delivering upgraded facilities, who can work with local government and presumably network with potential sponsors.

Agree mate, not your typical alliance but have a look at Mounties-Raiders and see how both have gone from strength to strength by casting a wider net, much wider than Manly-Blacktown.

you mean like Gutherson :)

The fear relating to Manly's local juniors I dont think is really that justified. Manly had Sunshine Coast Sea Eagles as their feeder club a few years back and that was quite a plus. Blacktown is closer so its even more beneficial. Most other clubs that are limited with local juniors have feeder clubs in other areas and it doesnt seem to hurt them. As indicated, I'm sure Manly will keep a keen interest in any locally produced players with talent. But now they have a larger net

I think this is a great thread. But their website is full of new recruits, so let's start a thread just related to new recruits, they are quality, and update their site regularly. I propose Dan makes a sticky.

lets wait and see how many players come through the system this way before claiming victory
Didnt Jerry Keys finish the year in our NSW backrow? He is well placed to be the first to see some NRL time. At back row or centre, they are both spots we look short on depth.

I do recall he played both centre and backrow last year but would expect Hoppa and Bainbridge to be ahead of him.

Fair point Mr Zarsoff. Did you ever happen to see a band years ago called the Zarsoff Brothers?
