Fun fact/useless trivia gleaned from the Rugby League Project. In terms of total patronage since 1908 our beloved Brookie sits 6th out of all grounds that have hosted first grade games and 1st amongst the traditional suburban grounds with 7.286m punters through the gates over the years.

I assume that 3rd last column is total games played at the venue ?? Brookie 3rd all time behind SCG and old Sports Ground. The NRL should treat the old girl with a bit more respect

Thanks for the research.

Kogarah is 14th with 4.6m, only in use from 1950 onwards. Looks like Dragons played out of Hurstville Oval originally (1921-1949). Kogarah would be higher (as would Brookvale) if not for the long term term practice of playing the match of the round at the SGC each week.

Leichhardt is 13th also with 4.6m total

Parramatta home games have been split across Cumberland Oval, Parramatta Stadium and Western Sydney Stadium (BankWest).

So Brookie is first for total attendance of all traditional Sydney home grounds, not bad. Shows we aren't so lacking in passionate supporters as some make out.

Pretty sure I read somewhere a couple of years ago that Brookie has actually hosted more games than any other current suburban ground - probably because Leichhardt not included as it is only used occasionally nowadays. It really is a historic place, good to see the upgrade currently afoot and going forward it should definitely be maintained.

Yes it is the longest serving ground in the game today. The scg has only been a fill-in since 1988.

The game needs to acknowledge the brookie heritage.
