I was at a function in 2009 and Wayne Bennett was talking about winning premierships and made a comment that teams playing really well in July and August aren't able to continue the form into September. He pointed out they often struggle to make the GF.

I guess that applied to the Dragons and Storm last year, not that Manly played bad at any stage but we were poking along until the wheels almost fell off after the Storm game.

Souths are a very good side and they have a very small window to win it before the salary cap starts to eat away at their roster, 2013 they look worse on paper to start with.

Reynolds (can be said about the dogs one as well) will be like DCE next contract, ie demanding a huge pay rise.

Souths are perennial chokers. They've only made the finals once in 20 something years, and we showed them the door in no uncertain terms that night.

They'll make the 8 as they have a good run home and probably only need to win one more game to be certain of the semis. They should account for Titans, Parra and Newcastle so will more than likely be top 4. That'll make the choke, when it comes, even more amusing.

Does anyone really think Sutton and Reynolds can mentally handle a tough grinding semi final ? Inglis is a good front runner, but I don't see him digging deep when it matters. I don't think they will win it this year.

I think they are a real danger, whether you hate him or not GI is a huge threat and they have a lot of pace in their backline and their pack have a good mixture of workers and some real quality with Burgess and Luke. Watching them you get the feeling they play with a lot of passion and are always on the edge, that can be good if you can keep it under control, but if they let their emotions get the best of them I think they are still capable of losing the plot.
