Burbo

I think Burbo has been really good the last few weeks. He showed promise early in his career. He’s only young.
Very true and it's not just his input as in strong carries or good tackles.....he has been running great lanes as an option runner both tight and wide "like when Koula scored late".....these are effort plays and it's a great way for any player to show up and make an impact not just for themselves, but for the team and I reckon he has shown this a fair bit recently...

I don't know how you watch that game on Saturday and come anywhere close to that opinion.

Funnily enough, playing players out of position doesn't help them! Ben is a second rower, and Waddell is a middle. That's it.
I’m talking about the entire season and if you can’t see it my friend I’m sorry for you. They are both not top 17 players and nor would they make top 17 of any of top 6 sides.

You're right, of course. I forgot we had so many other second rowers whose irresistible form means Burbo has to be dropped...

Who were they, again?
Wake up to your self, he’s only in the side because of his brothers. Seibold is **** scared to drop him because the brothers have to much influence and are controlling the club to some degree.

But those who are not being picked again! is the reason why will continue to be also rans.

I think we're finally seeing Burbo playing with confidence, whereas before he was probably just trying not to make any mistakes.

I think his turning point was when he fired up at Nicho Hynes in the sharks game a few weeks ago - I reckon that was him finally realising he'd earnt his spot in the team & deserved to be there.

Ben T has finally grown into his very large body. In doing so he has maintained a decent amount of speed which helps him make good metres every time he runs between two defenders. He hits like a brick wall in defence and is extremely tough. Despite his choir boy head, he has a bit of a nasty streak in him as well. Much more than his brothers. He is improving faster than Glen Stewart did and we all know how that turned out. My prediction, Ben will soon be viewed as indispensable.

I think he already is.

This is what is happening unfortunately. Also the reason we signed up Waddle again from the dogs and now signed him on a 3 or 4 year contract. I have to say he has been one of our worst players this year on form.

I was speaking to a VERY influential figure at the game last week and they said the exact same thing about the boys influence.

I don’t mind that they have a big say at the club. I know they are a passionate family but as long as the right calls are made. Waddle hasn’t been one of them though unfortunately.

I agree, but the other thing (which to my mind always meant he would be an improver) is that he has the great Trbojevic work ethic, not to mention very invested in the club.
He doesn't try to take short cuts, when he misses it's because he couldn't get there or just wasn't good enough. Never because he didn't try.
Which possibly explains the opposite trajectories of himself and his good buddy from junior days, the Schu.

You need to stop thinking ... it's not your strong suit ...

Big call.

Below are some edges that played in their respective last match for the top 6 teams.

Hayes, Bateman, O'Donnell, Edwards, Capewell, Niukore, Blore, Burns, Colquhoun.

Happy for individual players back and forth but your position is all of the above are clearly superior to Ben?

No withstanding the fact we are 7th with the team in 6th having had two byes....

Burbo is starting reap the benefits of (touch wood) a long awaited injury and head knock free run. He's been a bit Paseka-like in the past, looking promising and then getting injured. WIth an extended spell of playing 80 minutes each week his fitness and confidence have both flourished in recent weeks.

Burbo has earned his spot, mate. Ben's form in 2025 has been considerably better than Jake's, and his recent performances have had nothing to do with his two brothers' influence. Let's hope he continues to improve even more, as he is "finally" becoming one of our most consistent forwards.

I’ve been one of Brbo’s critics since he came in the scene. His speed & play were not that required for a centre. He started off poorly in the backrow, however the past few weeks he’s made me happy to eat my words. He’s actually been great!!! If he continues his form then all the talk he was better than his brothers may be true!
