Was just reading about the 72 World Cup, Australia lost the cup in a draw with England, interesting that Bozo missed 3 FG’s in the last 5 mins, Ward was in that side too.

Ward was also the Man of the match in the 72 GF.

i was out at Penrith Park when Steve Hegarty kicked his field goal to break a draw and win us the game in the final minutes. The Riff is a dangerous place when the yocals lose in that fashion

Yep, only one game off the bench for Manly in 2004 but 51 for Cronulla before that. He played Reggies for us.

Mark Lennon was a Welshman.

He was a Welsh international but about as Welsh as Victor Radley is English

Amazing how things bring back memories, I share my birthday with Fred, (his a bit older than me) captained the clubs first GF win, (and again in 73, back to back, loved it) smashed over to score a try that day, goal kicking was the difference, 2 tries a piece, Branighan scored the other try and kicked 6 from 7 and Bozo the FG.

Just going back to the 72 World Cup, Ray had a kick in the 79th minute to win that game, 4 shots in 5 mins between the Manly boys. Game ended in a draw and again after 20 minutes of extra time, no golden point stuff, the internationals were played under the 4 tackle rule back then. England were awarded the Cup as a result of winning more games than us, we lost a game to France, was the last time they won one, Australia has 12 WC’s, England 3 and the Kiwis 1.
