It appears that a 16 year old Wyong junior is to be handed a life ban (plus the prospect of facing assault charges) after he physically assaulted a referee who had sent him off, and then proceeded to get into a fight with his own team captain who tried to stop it.

Its why you can't have players (e.g. David Klemmer) putting their hands on referees.

And for the record, it wasn't quite a bashing as the headline suggests. The kid took three swings, the first two landed resulting in a cut nose and fat lip, the last one missed which was when his own captain stepped in and their fight started.

Greenberg has advised the following course of action:

1. If he's a good player send him to rehab for 2 weeks and give him a Bulldogs contract

2. If he's not a good player, give him a life ban and forget about him. Not our problem.
