Greatest all-round musician of a generation.

Got a cpl as well. Missed out seeing him last time 2003?...can't wait. The way they've configured the stage should make for a great night as well.

I've managed to get tix to the Brian Jonestown Massacre gig at the Oxford art factory.
Great band. I saw them at the Metro a couple of years ago but to see them in a small venue will be something.

Anyone else going to see them this tour?

^ That RapCity at the Enmore? Pretty keen to go to that but no idea if I'll actually be able to get to it atm. Chino XL would be great to see live.

Yeah, I'm pumped to see Chino XL too. Haven't heard heaps by him but I reckon he'll be impressive nonetheless.

Some big tour news to be announced on Monday 29th October.

Fans of good music spare some time and money for march/april next year.

The Beards + The Snowdroppers + Kim Churchill @ Newcastle Uni Bar On The Hill, Wed 24 Oct 2012:

Haven’t been to the Bar On The Hill for many years - it seemed bigger than I recall with lots of cool posters up around the place, some ok dark areas inside and a fairly good bar setup.

The worst thing by far was the stinkin’ cigga smoke permeating the entire venue, as much of it has a nice outdoor balcony surrounding the perimeter with several access doors mostly wide open where a lot of people were smoking – honestly, it’s amazing in this day and age that such high proportions of certain crowds still suck on the filthy cancer sticks even in the face of such overwhelming facts on how bad they are.
That alone will make me tend to avoid the venue unless they ban all smoking in the area and perhaps allocate some smokers area near the adjacent building or something.

That aside, the music and gig itself was very good.

KIM CHURCHILL: opened the live performances, and he was very impressive.
Solo with guitar, harmonica and a foot-drum he plays focused, unique blues with great occasional guttural, deep and intense inflections. Some of the sounds he produced were absolutely amazing, very glad to have seen him & will do so again.

A group called MAN CHOIR unexpectedly took the stage for a few songs thereafter and sang some pretty funny stuff including unique covers of an AC/DC song, that awful TV program “Home And Away” theme music and Metallica’s One. More of a novelty than anything they did bring a smile to our faces.

THE SNOWDROPPERS: performed awesomely as usual - unfortunately their set was too short, would’ve loved to see them play 2 or 3 more numbers. Johnny Wishbone energetic and engaging as usual, London his usual focused good stuff on bass, Pauly on fire on guitar and Cougar keeping them all chuggin’ along nicely on the drum set.

THE BEARDS: proved to be over-rated for mine. Sure they were energetic, engaging, played loud and put in, but a few things about their performance was pretty average. The singer has a great voice and sure plays the sax well though – that was good to see. Overall I’m glad to have seen them but unlikely to do so again.

Listening to the latest Dinosaur jr. album.

These guys tour Australia in Feb.

Awesome! I remember seeing them perform at the Coogee Bay Hotel back around 1993. Think I lost my hearing for about 3 days afterwards haha.

Just getting over seeing Springsteen 3 times a Allphones Arena, not sure why i didnt do the 3 at Rod Laver also.

Best 3 concerts ever. for the following reasons.

1. No support, Bruce played from roughly 8.00pm to 11.00pm each night without break.

2. He makes each nights set different, I saw 51 different songs in 3 nights, a total of 75 were played (average 25 a night).

3. Being in the pit the 3rd night was awesome experience.

4. Every night he crowd surfed, got kids up on stage to sing with, women to dance with.

5. Grabs signs from the audience with song requests and plays a stack of them each night.

6. Moments dedicated to deceased band members.

7. He signs stuff during to show.

8. Banter with the audience is always funny.

The ultimate entertainer.

Loved it so much I hope to go to the States in Aug/Sept and catch a show or 2.

I also seen Neil Young a week before Bruce, he was awesome also.

Its a yes from me Bob I went the Monday at Allphones unbelievable gig by far the best I have seen. I was keen to back up on the Friday but couldn't make it. Let's hope he comes out again but at 63 it would be doubtful.

I also saw Neil Young at Day on the Green at the hunter valley and left dissapointed as i had hoped he would play more of his classics.

Re: the annual JJJ Hottest 100 played Jan 2013:

(elsewhere)
that was one of the worst collections of "music" ever assembled.
I just wanted to throw the radio in the dam each time I was near it. Couldn't believe what I was listening to at times.

Yes. My thoughts exactly during the annual Hottest 100 played Jan 2013.
Can only recall liking 1 track all day.

(elsewhere)
The Triple J Hottest 100 makes me embarrassed to be human.

Yes, recent years ones all do.

However, what about the JJJ Hottest 100 of 20 Years – June 2013
Voting: 20 songs maximum, released between 1 Jan 1993 and 31 Dec 2012
