Match Stats

I feel like I’m living in an alternate reality. We’re getting up for away games but not home games, and both Saab and Burbo were our best players in an 18 point win 🤯

Even in this strange world we are still 6th, I feel like it’s a position that sums this team up
Yep it’s the Bizarro world right now! Means a win next week v Eels!

Saab breaking tackles and leaping like a flea, Burbo playing like a Burgess brother and we’re winning away games like it's a Contiki tour. 6th place really is the spiritual home of Manly. Not quite contending, not quite collapsing. Just eternally vibing in rugby league purgatory.

Next stop: winning at Brookie during a full moon while riding unicorns.
Next home game is v Broncos!

Burbos best game. Still not sold on him in any way but have to admit he defended well tonight.

Koula is pure class. Every touch was great. Our backs all played well except Turbo. Lehi was great with his hit ups out of trouble and incredibly smart with his decision making.

Good to see Haumole get back to what he does best.

Simpkin played well also. Jazzs service to start was diabolical. He did ok in the middle though. He will do on the bench.

Navale needs more time.

Maxta, This just sits within game day/post game thread!

Why do you start a thread for that simple comment? 🙂

Team Victory Song:

We are the Manly boys,
We had a win today,
We are the boys you know of
We showed them how to play,
No matter where we’ll be
Maroon and White you'll see,
Oh aren’t we a wonderful credit
To our locality,
So cheer boys cheer,
We are together,
Every now and then we have a win…..have a win
We will play them all around
At our home or any ground,
If they’ll always play a fair and honest game
So it’s GUZZLE GUZZLE GUZZLE
As we pour it down our muzzle,
And sing out the order loud and clear, 'MORE BEER',
And we will drink all night
Until we are very tired
In the shade of the Manly Leagues Club.

Injuries:

Jake Trbojevic
is set to be ruled out of the May 28 State of Origin series opener at Suncorp Stadium after suffering a Category 1 head knock while playing for Manly against North Queensland.

He was attempting to tackle Cowboys winger Murray Taulagi and slumped to the ground after a head clash, with team-mates - including brothers Tom and Ben - showing concern for the inspirational forward.

The NRL's mandatory 11-day stand down for concussions applies to State of Origin.

What a gutsy win to help resurrect our season, and did it virtually without our top 3 highest paid players.

So sad to see Jake concussed again and hope he takes it easy and looks after himself in the next couple of weeks. Also sad to see Tom play his way out of Origin instead of in it (though good for us).

Navale only getting 6 minutes was strange, particularly having lost Jake earlier.

On the positive side, well done to the team after losing Jake, the heart & soul of the team, yet they still managed to get the win.

Whats doing with our bench????

Navale needs more than 6 minutes in 2 weeks.

If he isnt good enough dont sit him.
It’s been really strange. It feels like they do not want to play Navale unless they absolutely have to, no idea why that is, he’s been good whenever he’s played. Giving a forward only 6 minutes after losing Jake early is insanity.

Got lucky it was fine this week but last week our bench cost us using only 3 men and giving a few of them not enough/too many minutes

If it was a blow out either way I’d expect he would have got a lot more minutes but majority of the game was on knifes edge. Better to have the experienced guys out there to get it done rather than a rookie. Next week if we put a decent performance against Parra I think he’ll play 20 mins +
