Dally M 2021

Only 8 out of 42 previous Dally M winners have won a premiership that year. It indicates that the winners are probably carrying their team by being the main outstanding performer. A formula that is unlikely to lead to a premiership. By those odds I hope no Manly player wins it next year.
The good news is that most of them won a premiership at some stage though.

Just to add to my last ... even though he didn't win the award while playing for Manly, 1996 premiership winner Neil Tierney won the BRL Rothmans Medal in 1989 while playing for the Wynnum-Manly Seagulls.

Tierney, and old fashioned front rower with a build more like Marty Bella than Marty Taupau, joined the NSWRL in 1990 and played 4 seasons with St George before playing two seasons with Western Suburbs, finally joining the mighty Sea Eagles in our premiership year of 1996.
I bow to your footy knowledge. You know I pass off this info to my daughter like it’s mine. She thinks I’m a David Middleton. No need to let her think otherwise. Thanks @HoldenV8 .@:)

The awards night was really stilted no atmosphere, was more like tea and cakes after a funeral tbh. Tommy deserved a bigger fanfare, but I guess in this age of covid this is as good as it gets.

Disastrous idea to hold it the same night as the Tonys.
