[Resurrected] David Williams

I think what did Wolf in was the betting. From then on he was basically used in first grade as a last resort.
His days were numbered no matter what he played like last year.

Agree @HoldenV8 . I've always thought following the betting the powers that be stamped him 'never to play in 1st grade again' and the only reason he did was due to a shortage of fit players.
I think it unfair to crucify him for one game, which happened to be the '13 GF, when many of his great games outweighed it. Several times last year I watched him in NSW Cup and thought he should return to NRL.
I've always loved Wolfman - for his character, playing ability and, most of all his courage. Imo its a damn shame he's unwanted and at 29 has retired way too young for no good reason.

I would have rather that Wolfman tried to get a Super League contract than retire. He still had a fair bit to offer and in the SL he could have become a sensation.

“The part that I found difficult with retiring at 29 wasn’t so much moving on from rugby league. I never really enjoyed the fame side of it, or getting recognised." I always thought he relished being the "Wolfman" but apparently not. I still loved the player and character anyway...

You left us hanging...what was his most difficult part in retiring? Fine, I'll read it myself! lol

I wonder if he remembers the joke I told at the home game v warriors in 2011 when I was in that tin shed.

I do.

“The transition side of things was me trying to find out what I was going to do with my time, to scratch the itch of my competitive nature. I tried a few things, including ice hockey if you can believe that.

No, I can't.

Also:

“The worst injuries are ones that I’m still dealing with now, hand, back and shoulders,” shared Mr Williams.

Man this game takes a lot outta ya!

Sounds like he'd be worth having in to have a chat to the current crop. Always loved Wolfie

He failed up to rep footy and his natural position was the end of one of the best club backlines we've probably seen.

and some feathered friends on here are blind as bats
God bless them 🙂

He failed at Rep footy you say ?
City rep..... One game one try
NSW rep.... Two games Two tries
Australia Rep ... Two games Four Tries

He was lucky to have played behind a Great Backline ?
Our Back Line was lucky to have a Great Finisher in the Howling Hair raising Wolfman

Yes it does. I'd have thought his fractured spine injury would be by far the worst that he's dealing with and probably for the rest of his life.
Fairly certain it was a fractured neck vertebrae that didn't require surgery or traction

I liked him but it is hard to forget his howler (pun intended) from the 2013 GF

Interesting quote though in this -
Having played in a Grand Final winning team, he was also asked about how the team maintained standards for playing at their peak.

“Calling bull****. We weren’t the kind of people to shy away from telling people if they’re screwing up.

“We had a level of honesty and accountability that you could call out any one of us, and we knew that we had to pick up our game in whatever aspect that we weren’t excelling in.

“We all knew our job. We knew how to do it. If you weren’t doing your job, then you got called out by everyone from the top down,”
answered Mr Williams bluntly.

Does that happen now? I doubt it. Seibold is all positive management speak.

I recall him starring in a short film as a literal Wolfman - so he didn't shy from that!
